Item Description: Translate description

Make: Walther

Model: PPK

Serial Number: 176395K

Year of Manufacture: Ca. 1938

Caliber: .32 A.C.P. (7.65mm Browning)

Action Type: Single or Double Action Semi-Auto with 7-Round Removable Magazine

Barrel Length: 3 1/4”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a low-profile blade integral to the slide. The rear sight is a “U” notch integral to the slide. The top of the slide has wavy serrations to reduce glare.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The one-piece grip is black & brown checkered composite that encloses the backstrap. The grip shows the usual minor warping, common to this material. On each side, the bolster around the grip screw has a tiny crack. There are a few other scattered minor marks. The checkering is well-defined. There are no chips. Overall, the grips are in about Excellent condition.

Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: Original, the slide is serial-matching.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at some edges, mostly at the leading edges of the slide. There is minor wear on the safety lever. There are a few other scattered minor marks and evidence of use. The screw head is lightly tool marked with a strong slot. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a single 7-round magazine with a pinky extension floorplate.

Our Assessment: Walther's original factory was located in Zella-Mehlis in the "Land" (state) of Thuringia. As that part of Germany was occupied by the Soviet Union following World War II, Walther fled to West Germany, where they established a new factory in Ulm. This is a .32 caliber Walther Model PPK made in 1938, near the beginning of WWII, at the factory in Thuringia. It is in Fine condition with roughly 97% original finish remaining. The bore is solid with sharp rifling. Walthers are known for their reliability. That said, they are also collectible. This example, in its high condition, would be a great addition to a Walther collection missing a pre-war commercial PPK. Please see our photos and good luck!
