Overview of 2005 Yamaha FJR1300

Item Details

2005 Yamaha FJR1300 VIN:  JYARP07E55A002831 The 2005 Yamaha FJR1300 is a celebrated sport-touring motorcycle known for blending superbike performance with touring comfort, featuring a powerful 145hp inline-four engine, shaft drive, adjustable windscreen, hard luggage and available ABS, offering strong, stable rides perfect for long distances. Key Features & Specs: 1298cc liquid-cooled, DOHC, inline-four, producing around 145 hp and 99 ft-lbs of torque 5-speed with maintenance-free shaft drive Dual front discs, single rear disc, with optional ABS for 2005 Electric adjustable windscreen, comfortable seating, ample wind protection, and standard hard saddlebags Fuel injection, digital instrumentation, storage compartments, and a center stand  Capable of high speeds (around 154 mph) with excellent stability, though heavy at low speeds It was Yamaha that created the Sport Touring class back in 1984, with the debut of its FJ1100 (see lot #85 elsewhere in this collection).  Twenty-some years later and Yamaha was still at it with the FJR1300 that you see here, and it is still the class leader with a machine that deftly combines high performance (quarter miles in 11 seconds flat) with long distance riding comfort.  This is a bike that falls neatly into a niche between the full blown sport bikes (think Kawasaki ZX) and the plush but heavy grand touring rigs (think Honda Gold Wing): You don't have to work as hard to ride at 8 tenths as you do with the ZX, and even with all its easily detachable bags on board it is much more nimble than the Wing.  Take a long all day ride and you can include lots of twisty foothill roads that you would be tempted to avoid on the Honda, and at the end of the day you can relax and watch your favorite scenes from On Any Sunday rather than spending it in the Jacuzzi as you would with the Kawi. The Deep Purple Blue Metallic example that you see here was purchased from the original owner in 2010, with just under 27,000 miles on the clock and immediately after its most recent service.  It was serviced again in 2014, at 29,400 miles, at which time new tires, fork springs and seals were also installed.  It has been ridden sparingly in the 12 years since, and the odometer currently shows 29,550 miles.  (All receipts are available with sale) These bikes are famous for their durability, with engines typically performing for 150-200,000 miles before needing major work when properly maintained; owners are known to claim that they are “just broken in” at the 50,000 mile mark.  Hence, a bike with mileage under 30,000 is considered a low mileage example by Yamaha owner standards.  The liquid cooled DOHC 4 valves per cylinder motor makes 145hp and is coupled to a 5 speed gearbox and low maintenance shaft drive rear end and will yield a top speed of 155mph if you are so inclined to ride at nosebleed speeds, and the chassis is set up to take you there with remarkable high speed stability.  If you are looking for a bike that melds performance with comfort and stability at high speeds over long distances, at a price that won't empty your wallet, this is the one for you. THIS MOTORCYCLE TO BE COLLECTED FROM HELENA, MONTANA.  The Motorcycle has been consigned to the Classic Motorcycle Online Auction hosted by the Classic Car Auction Group.  The auction is Saturday, May 9, 2026, with online bidding only.  To consign your bike and/or to register to bid on this and other bikes in the auction go to http://www.classiccarauction.us.
