DESCRIPTION: US Civil War Model 1840 Ames Musician's sword dated 1864. The sword blade has an overall dark uncleaned rust patina with some lighter areas of finish. Marked with the desirable Ames scroll trademark and GWC inspector marked on ricasso. Marked J.F. on sword guard. Blade length: 32". Overall length: 38-3/4". CONDITION: Good. Missing scabbard. Contact marks on blade's edge. MEASUREMENTS: Overall length: 38-3/4" ESTIMATE: $200-$300
Payment
Invoices will be sent at close of auction noting purchase price of all lots won, buyer's premium and any applicable taxes and fees. To establish a tax free sale, a copy of a valid reseller's permit or license must be provided. Any purchaser claiming an exemption who is unable to provide proof will be required to pay the tax and seek a refund from the state of Pennsylvania. Generally all items shipped out of state are sales tax free sales. Buyers are responsible for compliance with the laws of the state in which they reside.
Payment to be made in five (5) days from invoice date via credit card, debit, cash, checks, money orders, cashier checks or wire transfers. Checks are held for ten (10) business days. Payments not received in five days will be charged to the buyer's credit card on file. Payments should be mailed to: Cordier Auctions & Appraisals, 1500 Paxton Street, Harrisburg, PA 17104.
Cordier Auctions provides shipping for firearms (except NRR firearms). The cost is: Long guns: $50 for first long gun; $25 for each additional long gun won. Handguns: $65 for first handgun; $35 for each additional handgun won. Shipping for all non-firearm items and NRR firearms is the responsibility of the buyer. Cordier Auctions will assist the buyer in arranging shipping through one of the listed shippers. NOTE: Items to be picked up or shipped within one week of the auction date, after which storage fees in the amount of $5 per item per day will apply. International purchases exceeding $1,000 require a wire transfer of funds. $50 fee to be applied to total. Shipping is subject to any restrictions of the purchaser’s country.

All property is sold "as is", and neither the auctioneer nor any consignor makes any warranties or representation of any kind or nature with respect to the property, and in no event shall they be responsible for the correctness, nor deemed to have made any representation or warranty, or description, genuineness, authorship, attribution, provenance, period, culture, source, origin, or condition of the property and no statement made at the sale, or in the bill of sale, or invoice or elsewhere shall be deemed such a warranty of representation or an assumption of liability.
ALL SALES ARE FINAL, NO RETURNS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
Prospective bidders should inspect the property before bidding to determine its condition, size, and whether or not it has been repaired or restored. You are encouraged to preview the items in person or request additional photos prior to bidding.
The highest bidder as determined by the auctioneer shall be the purchaser. In the case of a disputed bid, the auctioneer shall have sole discretion in determining the purchaser and may also, at his or her election, withdraw the lot or re-offer the lot for sale. If any dispute arises after the sale, our sale record is conclusive. Although in our discretion we will execute absentee bids or online bids as a convenience to clients who are not present at auctions, we are not responsible for any errors or omissions in connection therewith.
PRECIOUS METALS, GEMSTONES & COINS:
All precious metal weights are approximate and include gemstones when present. Gold karats are approximate when tested. Gemstone sizes are estimated. Coin grading, unless by a third party, are an opinion only.
All purchases are subject to 6% Pennsylvania state sales tax unless the purchaser possesses a Pennsylvania sales tax exemption number and has an executed exemption form on file. Exemption numbers from other states are accepted if presented with a business card or letterhead.
PAYMENT:
Payment to be made in five (5) days from invoice date via credit card, debit, cash, checks, money orders, cashier checks or wire transfers. Personal and business checks are held for ten (10) business days. Payments should be mailed to: Cordier Auctions & Appraisals, 1500 Paxton Street, Harrisburg, PA 17104. International purchases with invoice amount exceeding $1,000 require a wire transfer of funds. $50 fee to be applied to total (international wire transfers only).
PURCHASES OVER $2,500:
Any domestic purchase with invoice amount exceeding $2,500 requires a wire transfer of funds.
REMOVAL OF PURCHASES:
Cordier Auctions will assist the buyer in arranging shipping through our preferred shipper. Shipping is subject to any restrictions of the purchaser's country. Bidders are responsible for confirming their import laws and any restrictions do not release a purchaser from their responsibility for payment of an invoice.
FIREARMS:
Cordier Auctions provides shipping for firearms (except NRR firearms). The cost is: Long guns: $50 for first long gun; $25 for each additional long gun won. Any use of such is entirely at the user's risk. Cordier Auctions & Appraisals expressly disclaims any liability whatsoever for accident, injury, or damage resulting to any person from the use or storage of any lot.
All items are sold subject to applicable Federal and State Regulations. All modern guns must be registered. Gun registration is handled by Cordier Auctions & Appraisals. Modern handgun purchasers must be Pennsylvania residents at least 21 years of age and must have a government issued photo id (driver's license). Out of state residents must have an FFL or a licensed dealer in their state to receive UPS shipments of handguns. Modern rifle and shotgun purchasers must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to purchase firearms. C&R lots will convey to C&R FFL holders per Federal regulations. Buyers are responsible for compliance with the laws of the state in which they reside.
Applicable fees for non-licensed Pennsylvania residents to be paid at the time of check-out include a $2.00 PICS fee and a $3.00 per gun Pennsylvania State surcharge fee.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Items must be picked up or shipped within one week of the auction date, after which storage fees in the amount of $5 per item per day will apply.
FAILURE TO REMOVE PURCHASES:
Failure to remove purchases within 10 business days following the auction will result in transportation of items to our warehouse in Lemoyne, PA at a standard $50 per item moving fee AND a storage fee of $5 per item per day until pick up by the buyer (24 hour notice required for pick up).
