New battery, November 2023 FIRE TRUCK HISTORY The current owner acquired the 1947 Ford Fire Engine in April 2017 from the prior owners, Paul Poling and his brother Harold “Red” Poling, the former president & CEO of the Ford Motor Company during the 1980s and 1990s. Paul was the past president of the Amissville, VA Volunteer Fire Department. The brothers located the fire engine in Alpinia, MI from a Ford executive, who was in charge of the Ford Smelting Plant. In fact, the executive utilized the fire engine at his private residential estate. Upon the brothers’ return from Alpinia, MI they housed the fire engine in their self-created fire museum in Amissville.
