Japanese woodblock print titled First Call of the Warbler: Women of the Manji Era (1658-1661) by Toshikata Mizuno. Part of the Thirty-six Selected Beauties series, this print reflects on classic beauty prints and captures the daily lives of women from different historical periods. This specific piece depicts women from the Manji Era, celebrated for the traditional practice of Hatsune, or first singing in the New Year's Day. The print measures 9 3/4 wide x 14 high and shows mild foxing and is backed. Toshikata Mizuno (1866-1908) was a renowned artist during the Meiji period, known for his fusion of traditional Japanese woodblock printmaking techniques with modern influences. His works often highlighted the beauty, grace, and traditions of Japanese culture, particularly themes revolving around women.. .

All items sold as is. Please read description for condition as well as inspect photographs. Ask any questions before bidding. Returns must be received within two weeks of delivery.
Illinois Sales tax of 7% charged unless resale tax number presented. Live Auctioneers and Proxibid now collects sales tax for most states for interstate sales.
