Lot of Civil War and Spanish American war photographs, documents and a book. The book in this lot is titled "Through The War By Camera" by the Pearson Publishing Company. This book has images of the Spanish American War. The front cover has detached, but the pages are in very good condition. The documents in this lot include letters, medical examinations and more. There are documents from the Civil War until 1906. The documents involve Samual Burns, Thomas Burns, and James Ely. Some of the photos are taken in Havana, Cuba, others show groups of soldiers in different settings. No scenics, all photos show soldiers. Condition varies from fair to very good. Lot with a lot of items to see and read.

US CIVIL WAR SOLDIER'S PERSONAL RECORD CERTIFICATE

This item is framed and measures 29.25 by 23.75 inches. This is a certificate testifying to Stephen Lawrence's participation in the Civil War. This document has hand written details of Mr. Lawrence's experience. This item was published by Daniel U. Snyder. The document has foxing, creases and a small hole, but in overall very good condition considering age.

FRANK LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED NEWSPAPER COLOR PRINT

Lot # 1005 (Sale Order: 5 of 681)      

Handcolored etching print published in Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper. The image is titled "Front Royal, Manassas Gap Railroad, Blue Ridge Mountains in the Distance-The Federal Army Entering the Town." Underneath the image is a description of the occurrence. On the reverse of this image there is another etching print, but this image is not colored. The second image is titled "Terrible Effect of a Discharge of Grape From Fort Jackson on the Federal Gunboat 'Iroquois,' Captain De Camp. April 24th 1862, Whih Killed Eight and Wounded Seven Seamen, Out of a Dahlgren Gun's Crew of Twenty-Five Men, Under Lieutenant McNair." The sheet has some creases and has yellowed over time, but in very good condition considering age.

Etching print, from Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper. The image was made by Edwin Forbes and is titled "The War in Virginia-Capture of Three Confederate Guns, Near Culpeper, by General Cluster's Cavalry Brigade, September 14th 1863." On the reverse of this image there are images of Rear Admiral James Alden, General J. H. Hobart Ward and General Edwin V. Sumner, along with their biographical information. The page has some tears , presumably from when it was taken out of the newspaper. Overall very good condition considering age.

BUFFALO HIDE RUG WITH PAINTING 95 BY 70 INCHES

USS WARD DD 139/APD 16 SHIP MODEL FICKLEN 1:96

Lot # 1017 (Sale Order: 17 of 681)      

1:96 scale model of the USS Ward, also known as DD 139 and A.P.D 16. In this model 1/8 inch is equal to a foot. The plaque reads: "Commissioned July 24, 1918, Lost in Action April 5,1945, Scale 1/8 inch = 1 foot, Model by John Ficklen III". The USS Ward had a long history, being in use during WWI AND WWII. The model was made by John Fickler, known for his military art and models. Fickler has made models for museums, private collections, and more. Overall very good condition in a museum quality case measuring 43 inches long, 16 inches high and 7.5 inches wide. This lot has a reserve.

H.M.S DORSETSHIRE MODEL JOHN FICKELN 1/16 INCH=1FT

Lot # 1019 (Sale Order: 19 of 681)      

Museum quality model of the HMS Dorsetshire. The plaque reads, "HMS Dorsetshire, County Class Heavy Cruiser, Commissioned September 30, 1930, Lost in Action April 3, 1942, Scale 1/16 inch = 1 foot." Commissioned by the Royal Navy, the Dorsetshire was sunk by Japanese bombers in 1942. The model was hand made by John Ficklen III (American, 1941). Ficklen has constructed models for museums and organizations including the Smithsonian. The model comes in a high quality glass case measuring 16 by 43 by 7.25 inches. Overall in very good condition. Third party shipper required. This lot has a reserve.

JAPAN IJN KAGERO SHIP MODEL BY JOHN FICKLEN

Used by the Imperial Japanese Navy in WWII, this is a model of the IJN Kagero destroyer. This model takes care to include even the smallest of details, it is handcrafted and painted by John D. Ficklen III. Ficklen is a well known military artist and model maker who has been commissioned by museums, private collections and more. The plaque on this work reads: "IJN Kagero, Commissioned November 6, 1939, Sunk by USS Navy May 8, 1943, Model by John D. Ficklen". The item is in a museum quality showcase which measures 26.5 by 9 by 7.25 inches. Overall very good condition. This lot has a reserve.
