MEASUREMENTS: Mother top 28" long and 18" shoulder to shoulder with 25" sleeve. Pants approximately 42" long. Daughter top 21" long and 15" shoulder to shoulder with 18" sleeve. Pants approximately 18" long.
CONDITION: Light wear as expected with age. Daughter's top with two small spots of discoloration.

DESCRIPTION: Charles M. Schulz (American, 1922-2000) Original hand drawn comic strip. Depicts the Peanuts gang playing baseball and Lucy starting a discussion on morality. Signed at top under applied paper "Peanuts", as well as at lower right corner in final frame. Under white matting in a black and metallic frame. Charles Monroe Schulz was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While still in school, he started taking the Art Instruction Schools correspondence course in cartooning. During World War II, he served in the Army and was sent to Europe. Upon his return, he got a job with his old correspondence school and was employed there for five years. He succeeded in selling a cartoon to The Saturday Evening Post in 1948. In 1950, he sold Peanuts to United Features, it went on to become the most widely read comic strip in the world, appearing daily in nearly 2,200 newspapers. In 1987, he was inducted into the Cartoonist Hall of Fame, and has twice won the National Cartoonists Society Reuben Award. PROVENANCE: Received by consignor from Schulz in exchange for painting a portrait of him.
