Condition: Fine to excellent for this type of rifle. Barrel with smooth brown patina with scattered light spotting. Vibrant color remaining on case-hardened elements. Excellent wood with mellow age patina. Overall, a very fine example of this type of rifle.
Notes: John Wurfflein, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1835-1900. This famous family were makers of fine percussion derringers, hunting and target rifles.

Condition: Very good. Steel showing rich brown age patina with a few spots of fine pitting around the breech. Triggerguard tang with period repair. Wood very good with light wear overall.
Notes: This rifle has the appearance and configuration of a plains rifle, including the two keys, the cheek piece and the rear sight; the Eastern maker provided a patchbox and mounted the piece in German silver; the Western maker omitted the patchbox and usually used brass or iron mountings. A fine example of the famed plains rifle.

Condition: Fine to excellent. Barrel with beautiful, smooth age patina with scattered light wear and fine scratches. Wood fine with minor sliver repair on left side of stock, hardly visible and a few minor dents and bruises. Front trigger possibly shortened. Bore with strong rifling and minor pitting. Obviously, a special order rifle with deluxe features, typical of the work done by Rector who was known specifically for his target rifles.

Barrel retaining 90-95% blue finish, now faded to rich plum brown with slight wear to relief edges. 70-75% case-hardening remaining with areas of irridescence still present. Wood excellent with a few insignificant marks. Action excellent. Mirror bright bore.
