6 SHARPS BULLET MOLDS.

Lot # 3900 (Sale Order: 901 of 1040)      

1) 1874 SHARPS PAPER PATCH MOLD. Marked "CALIBRE 40, 1 1/8, 330, SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT, CONN. 345". CONDITION: surface of mold shows considerable staining. Faint rust on handles. Rust deposits on outside of blocks. Nippers show dents & separation. Cavity looks crisp & usable. 2) 1874 MOLD. Marked "Cal. 45 420 SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT, CONN." Assembly number can't be read. Marked "OLD RELIABLE" in the oval stamp on reverse. CONDITION: both handles of mold have been bent outward. Finish to mold is bright. Shows that it has been cleaned. Minor pitting. Nippers are rounded & show separation. Cavity shows minor pitting but should clean to be usable. (02-6458-70/GR). 3) MODEL 1859 MOLD. Cal. 52. With New Model 59 markings on right handle along with lg. numbers "52". CONDITION: overall surfaces of mold show minor pitting & cleaning. Cavity also shows cleaning & minor pitting. Nippers appear to have been rebuilt. 4) MODEL 1863 MOLD. Marked New Model 1863 with lg. numbers "52" on right handle. CONDITION: surfaces show accumulation of grime. Some pitting & staining. Cavity shows surface rust but is crisp. Nippers may have had some restoration. 5) NEW MODEL 1863. In lg. numbers "52" on right handle. CONDITION: handle good with minor dings. Mold block showing dings, dents & dark staining. Cavity shows rust in grooves & dings within cavity. Right side of nippers have piece missing. 6) MODEL 1869 TYPE MOLD. Marked 90 on left handle with no other markings present. CONDITION: surfaces are smooth with some staining. Gouge by hinge pin. Indications of hammering on bottom side of hinge pin. Mold blocks are smooth. Nippers meet well. 36 Cavity ring tailed bullet is crisp with some staining. Overall mold is extremely good. PROVENANCE: Collection from the Estate of Lewis & Leyton Yearout. 1) MODEL 1882 TOOL. Cal. 32 WCF. With decapping pin & powder measure. CONDITION: 99% overall condition. With MOLD. Marked 32 WCF. Wood handles. CONDITION: overall 99% condition. In original box. Box is in good condition with 2 torn corners. Box label states loading tool for 32 WCF. 2) MODEL 1880 TOOL.1st variation. Mfg. 1880. With no makers name. With Berdan pick. No decapping pin. No powder dipper. CONDITION: no rust. 70% Bluing with BULLET MOLD. Marked 45-60. Iron handles. Good condition. No bluing. Like new mold in original box. Condition of box is very poor. Has been taped over many, many years ago. 3) EMPTY CARDBOARD BOX FOR AN 1882 MODEL TOOL. No instructions. Clean box. Marked on end "38-70". Overall condition good. 4) EMPTY CARDBOARD BOX FOR AN 1882 TOOL. No instructions. Repaired on corners. Cal. marked on end of box "38-55 Express". Overall condition fair. 5) MISC. BOX PARTS. Cals. unknown. With good labels. 6) WINCHESTER 1891 TOOL. Cal. 40-82. With properly marked decapping pin. CONDITION: shows split surfaces with dark blue on bottom & blue wear on top handle & body. Functions well. Box bottom is solid with exception of 1 end which has broken away & is coming loose. Box top has nice label with some staining. Some damage on right side & has been reinforced with some tape on bottom. Label showing cal. is partly obscured by tape on top of box. Box is relatively sound as reinforced. 7) 1894 TOOL. CAL. 38-72. Does not have decapping pin. CONDITION: surfaces are smooth showing almost full blue & have dulling & some grime. 72- For black powder marked scoop accompanies tool. With WINCHESTER 5TH ISSUE MOLD. Dark handles showing much original finish & pleasing brass ferrules. Marked "38-72" but most metal surfaces show beginning of rust & bottom of mold blocks show dents from hammering. Cavity of tool is crisp & beginning to turn plum. Box has tape reinforcements to top & bottom corners of box. Lid has tape reinforcement on corners but shows separation on 2 of them. Tool is set up to use Berdan pick on either right or left side indicating very early mfg. Assembly No. "O" under extractor foot. Very seldom encountered. CONDITION: mechanically excellent. Cavities show some indications of surface rust. Finish brown with some areas of wear being more faint in coloration. (02-6458-91/GR). CLASSICAL LYON & BOYD TOOL. Cal. 45-90. Typical mfg. markings but patent markings across end of tool instead of longitudinal. 3 Cavities, 2 of which are for typical conical bullet. THREE BROWNING BROS. SINGLE SHOT TOOLS.

Lot # 3920 (Sale Order: 921 of 1040)      

1) Larger sized 45-60 marked tool has Berdan pick between capping pin & bullet mold. CONDITION: screw cutter & screw is replacement. Cavity on mold looks to have been freshened. There are no other marks on tool that has a flat based extended bullet cavity. Roughly 30% original gold paint left on inside of handles. Overall condition of tool very good. 2) 2ND MODEL TOOL called by some collectors "The Horsehead Configuration" is designed for 38 Win. & marked "38W". CONDITION: tool shows casting marks yet finish is remarkably smooth for this type of tool. 2 Grooved bullet for cavity but cavity has 2 sm. holes at point of bullet. Cutoff screw plate is missing. Minor pitting on some filed surfaces but nothing to detract from overall condition of tool. 3) Typical 1st model Browning Bros. reloading tool on which patent the 1881 Marlin tool was built. Tool marked "JM BROWNING OGDEN, UT 40-70". It shows casting marks, casting flaws. Bright steel color with a very good bullet cavity but with a sprue cutter that is not of the pattern of most of the others observed. CONDITION: very solid. Functions flawlessly & compared to other observed models is probably in the upper 1/3 of the condition spectrum. PROVENANCE: Collection from the Estate of Lewis & Leyton Yearout.
