All-felt doll with plump swivel head, amber-tinted complexion, high domed forehead with high comma-shaped brows, modeled closed eyes, long painted lashes, closed mouth with original hole in center for pip stem, stitched ears, black mohair wig drawn tightly up from face to form into into a long queue, ball-shaped plump stomach on short legs, jointed arms. Condition: good, typical rough-textured felt of the early Lenci dolls, moth damage at shoes and back neck. Comments: Lenci, circa 1921, the doll was identified in a 1922 Lenci advertisement as their "trademark" doll. Very Rare American Wooden Doll Furniture attributed to George LeClerc with Tynietoy Lineage 1200/160

Lot # 413 (Sale Order: 272 of 305)      

17" (43 cm.) h. secretary desk. The nicely-made furnishings depicting various style including American colonial and Craftsman are in the style of Tynietoy, but twice their scale, suitably sized for display with dolls about 10". Each piece has original finish and fine details of craftsmanship; including secretary desk, Hepplewhite-style glass-top cabinet, wing chair with chintz upholstery, pedestal table, three different side chairs each with upholstered seats, dining table and a Craftsman-style set comprising settee and three chairs with leather seats and library table. The craftsman and furniture designer, George Henri LeClerc, had worked at, and presumably designed, many of the early Tynietoy dollhouse furnishings during the 1920s/1930s; after his departure from the firm in 1938 he continued creating nearly identical furniture models on his own, and, notably, created some models in this larger scale. The pieces are unsigned, excellent condition, and very rare to find....more
