Light brown complexioned cloth doll depicting the storybook character has white button eyes, outlined red nose, outlined mouth with definition of teeth, outlined brows, stitch jointing at shoulders and hips, red and white striped stockings, tan shoes. Condition: very good, some darkening to muslin under bandana, apron and skirt are early replacements. Comments: Georgene Novelties, late 1940s. Value Points: Belindy models from this era are difficult to find.

Black cotton sateen doll with elongated slender face, stitched wool fleece hair, embroidered white eyes with defined pupils, white eyeliner and stitched nose, white outlined lips, rag-filled body with stitch jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: American folk art, late 19th century. Value Points: charming detail of facial embroidery, the doll wears antique costume and bonnet.
Two American Cloth Handmade Topsy-Turvy Dolls 300/400

12" (30 cm.) Each topsy-turvy has alternate doll heads posed on opposite ends of a muslin torso, and is designed so that the full-length costume which accompanies each head will hide the alternate head. On the larger example, each head is double-sided depicting different moods for each doll; the black doll with embroidered features, and the white doll with inked features. The smaller example features simplistic painting of features on each doll. Condition: good, costumes are original albeit need freshening and features on white girl are faded on larger doll, and faces on smaller doll are aged. Comments: American, handmade, late 19th century. Value Points: charming imaginative designs including four-faced larger doll, and original costumes.
Two Early 20th Century American Topsy-Turvy Dolls in the Studio Manner 600/900

9" (23 cm.) and 13". Each topsy-turvy has alternate doll heads posed on opposite ends of a muslin torso, and is designed so that the full-length costume which accompanies each head will hide the alternate head. When the doll is flipped, the alternate "doll" is revealed. One topsy-turvy has sateen heads with daintily embroidered facial features, including black-complexioned child wearing red cotton dress, and white-complexioned child in striped red and white dress with lace trim and matching cap; the other topsy-turvy is a petite size with painted features. Condition: generally excellent, light spotting on white-complexion face. Comments: American, circa 1900. Value Points: original costumes enhance the studio topsy-turvy dolls.
American Black Cloth Folk Doll with Early Topsy-Turvy Doll 800/1100

Of rag-stuffed black cotton cloth, the doll has oval-shaped head, stitched-on wool fleece cap wig, cut-out eye sockets with twill cord edging, cord stitched-on brows, inset double button eyes achieving dimension of pupils and eye whites, embroidered lips and teeth, stitch-jointed arms and legs, antique dress, undergarments, sunbonnet, stockings, shoes, photograph pin. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: American, unknown folk artist, late 19th century. Value Points: creative use of found materials in the design of the folk doll, along with a lithographed mask, brown-complexioned doll with original body and costume by Bruckner.
Three All-Original American Cloth Dolls from the Babyland Rag Doll Series 600/900

15" (38 cm.) Each has silkscreen printed face and hair which is stitch-attached to muslin head form, muslin body with stitch jointing at shoulders and hips, mitten hands with defined thumbs. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: from the Babyland Rag Series of Horsman, the dolls were advertised as having "life-like" faces, the Dutch boy and girl, named Jan and Greta, were offered as a premium for selling subscriptions to Children's magazine in 1908, and the third doll wears rare costume of Quaker Maid. Value Points: beautifully-preserved dolls wearing their factory original costumes, with fine detail of facial design.

Condition: generally excellent, some darkening of features. Comments: early model of Babyland Rag's topsy-turvy, circa 1895. Value Points: especially beautiful faces with subtle blush and shading, dainty well-preserved original costume.

15" (38 cm.) Each has silk screen printed face stitch-attached to firmly-stuffed muslin head form, with artfully-depicted facial features and complexion, and with muslin body with stitch jointing at shoulders and hips (the boy with stitch-jointed knees also). Condition: generally excellent. Comments: from the Babyland Rag Doll series of Horsman, circa 1915, the trio includes dark brown-complexioned boy with checkered suit, brown-complexioned girl with sewn-on fleece yarn wig and costumed as Native American (costume may not be original); and light brown-complexioned girl with black fleecy curls framing the face and wearing striped nursing costume. Value Points: rare models with variations of facial mood, each artistically rendered, and with original costumes (except as noted).
American Paper-Mache "Uncle Sam" on Wooden Soap Box Base 1200/1600

A paper-mache figure of Uncle Sam with painted facial features and hair, and having sculpted classic top hat, and red, white and blue Stars and Stripes costume is posed on original wooden blue soap box base with star accents. Generally excellent. American, early 20th century, the figure likely originated as an advertising object.

26" (66 cm.) Golden mohair teddy bear has protruding muzzle with black embroidered nose and mouth, amber glass eyes, stitched ears, swivel head, jointed arms and legs, with felt paw pads. Good condition, some wear to original paw pads. Circa 1920, the bear is wearing antique woolen middy jacket with medallions and buttons, and sailor cap labeled HMS Dampier.

A carved wooden toy horse with painted finish rests upon a wooden platform with spring attachment allowing the horse to rock back and forth; the horse has an attached upholstered saddle seat. Marked "Whitney Reed Chair Company of Leominster, Mass". Very good condition, original played with condition. The Whitney Reed firm was noted for its production of wooden toys as well as rocking horses, late 19th century.

All-cloth doll with stitched-on face and hair over muslin head form, with side seams that allow ear shaping, and having three short seams at forehead, and one at chin, flat-dimensional face, painted brown hair in short boyish fashion, blue eyes with shaded, outlined and white eye dots, feathered brows, outlined nose, painted lips with center line, blushed cheeks, muslin body with stitch jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, wearing old blue serge costume, shirt, undergarments, leather slippers, and with vintage photographic pin back and musical instruments pins. Condition: very good, original oil-painted finish with aging. Comments: American, mid/late 19th century, unknown folk artist, in the manner of itinerant American folk portrait painters such as William Matthew Prior. Value Points: most captivating expression achieved by artistic painting, and having well-conceived construction technique, on the rare doll.

All-cloth doll with stitched-on shoulder plate head over muslin form, flat-dimensional face with oil-painted complexion and facial features, oil-painted brown curls, outlined brown shaded eyes, short-stroke brows, outlined nose, painted mouth with upturned lip corners, blushed cheeks, muslin stitch-shaped body with oil-painted lower arms and legs, nice antique costume, undergarments, antique photograph brooch, shoes. Condition: generally excellent, original finish with few typical rubs. Comments: Emma Adams of Oswego, New York, the doll known as the Columbian Doll for its award at the 1893 Columbian International Exposition. Value Points: original finish with fine artistry of painting on the rare large size important American doll; included is her own small Babyland Rag doll with hand-painted features and original body.
Rare American Doll "Old Mammy" from Bye Bye Kids Series of Bach Brothers 800/1200

14" (36 cm.) Of light brown muslin with firmly-stuffed one-piece head and torso, stitch-jointed shoulders and hips, embroidered definition of fingers, oil-painted high orange stockings and black shoes, hand-painted facial features and hair with brown outlined eyes, brown eye shadow, outlined brows, nose and mouth with red lips and defined teeth, laughter lines drawn at eye corners and cheeks, painted hair. Condition: generally excellent, unplayed with. Marks: Bye Bye Kids Strictly Sanitary (front torso mark, and separate stamp "Old Mammy"). Comments: Bach Brothers of New York advertised a complete line of cloth dolls in a 1909 issue of Playthings; the costumes and style clearly intended to emulate the popular Babyland Rag line of Horsman. Value Points: rare doll in impeccable condition with extra details of facial design, original costume with added lettering "Class Day '09" and Greek letters suggesting a raffle prize at a 1909 sorority event.
Rare American Wooden Cabinet with Advertising for DeLaval Cream Separator 600/900
