Eight Color Prints of the Old West by Frederic Remington
Lot # 26 (Sale Order: 26 of 350)
Here is a complete set of Frederic Remington's "Buckskins Portraits of the Old West" color illustrations. These were issued by Penn Prints in 1956 and are marked as such on the lower right corner of each print. All eight are in this set and include: Old Ramon, A Cheyenne Buck, A Breed, A Cavalry Officer, A Sioux Chief, A Trapper, An Arizona Cowboy, and An Army Packer. Each print is approximately 12-1/4 inches x 16-1/4 inches and has its original color with no folds, creases, or tears. These were mounted at some point, for each one has two small spots on the top back edge from this.You will receive all eight prints for your winning bid!
Three Halloween Candy Holders
Lot # 27 (Sale Order: 27 of 350)
These cute Halloween party candy containers are circa 1950 and in excellent condition. The baskets with the witches are approximately 2-1/2 inches in diameter x 4-1/2 inches tall, with the pumpkin being paper mache and approximately 2-1/2 inches x 2-1/2 inches. The consignor had one of the pumpkins with its original price tag still attached stating, "Meier & Frank Dept. Store 10 cents." All three containers are in excellent condition.
Corgi #381 Whizzwheels G.P. Beach Buggy

This lot is for a vintage Corgi Toys G.P. Beach Buggy #381 Whizzwheels. The dune buggy is the classic one made from a Volkswagen in the early seventies, is blue in color, and comes with the original surf boards. The toy looks as if it was never played with and is in the original box. The clear piece of plastic on the front of the box was replaced.
Squirt Die-Cut Easel-Back Store Display Sign

This brightly colored easel-back store display sign for Squirt Soda is dated 1943 with a red, white, and blue patriotic banner across the top. The sign measures approximately 20 inches tall x 7-1/2 inches at the base and is in very good condition. The colors are bright with no fading. There is very little edge wear on the banner section, and the base has some slight creases due to age.
Apache Dance Schafer & Vater Colored Nipper Dance Flask

This Schafer & Vater piece is a colored nipper flask in the dancers style. It is titled, "Apache Dance," and features a real hip looking man and a woman dancing. This piece comes complete with the original stopper and measures approximately 6-1/4 inches tall x 3-1/2 inches wide. This flask is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.
Necco Candy Display Rack

This very early rack was used to display and sell Necco candy rolls in the consignor's family's candy store in the early 1900s. This rack measures approximately 5 inches long x 8-1/4 inches tall x 3-1/4 inches wide and is in very good condition. There are a few more items in this auction from the same consignor.
Two Bronze Maidens and Cherub Sculpture

This lot is a classical Greek inspired bronze sculpture of two maidens and a cherub. One maiden is holding a hammer and pan in her hands as she looks down at the smaller maiden in her arms. There is a small cherub tugging at her robe as well. This piece has a mix of natural looking polished brass with green patina. It is fresh from a local estate and has not been cleaned or polished. It is a nice size for display at approximately 19 inches tall x 10 inches deep x 10 inches wide. This looks to be a one-piece hollow cast bronze, yet it still weighs in at just over 23 pounds. We could not find a maker's mark or signature on this nice looking piece.
Grand Prize Light Dry Beer Flat-Top Can from Texas

Offered is a vintage beer can for Grand Prize Beer. This is a 12-ounce flat-top can from the Gulf Brewing Company of Houston, Texas. The can is circa 1960 and has a bright crisp metallic label with strong colors. The can's top lid was cut with a can opener; hence, it exhibits some teeth marks along the top rim. There are some case dings along the rims and back seam as well.
Mule Ear Knife from Wakemap Mound
Lot # 34 (Sale Order: 34 of 350)
Offered is a Columbia River agate mule ear knife found at the Wakemap Mound site outside of Wishram Village in Washington. There were many organized digs there by the Oregon Archaeological Society in the mid to late 1950s before The Dalles Dam was built. The site is now surrounded by water due to the construction and completion of the dam. This knife is approximately 2-3/8 inches x 1-3/8 inches at its widest point, and it is being offered exactly as received from the Frank Buehler collection.
Six-Inch Round Celluloid B-1 Lemon-Lime Soda Sign

This brand name sign was made by the Parisian Novelty Company in Chicago for B-1 Lemon-Lime Soda with Vitamin B-1. All the information we researched indicates its popularity in the 1940s. This sign is in like new condition.
Three Artifacts from Ohbie Site on Columbia River
Lot # 36 (Sale Order: 36 of 350)
This lot features three artifacts that were all found circa 1960 at the Ohbie site on the Columbia River,a well-known site where members of the Oregon Archaeology Society worked. The first artifact is an elk's tooth (or part of one) that looks as if part of it broke off where a hole was made through the tooth. The second and third artifacts are two stone pendants; one pendant has grooves cut into it on one end, and the other pendant is a teardrop shaped rock or charm. The teardrop shaped piece is the largest at 1-1/4 inches x 7/16 inches x 3/16 inches with the other two pieces measuring approximately 3/4 inches x 1/2 inches.
Solid Brass Egg Scale

"The Champion Egg Scale" was patented in 1925 and manufactured by Carlstedt Manufacturing Company in Edmonds, Washington. The solid brass scale sits on a wood base and measures approximately 8-3/4 inches x 2-1/2 inches. As these were made on the west coast, we have seen a few, but never with the complete paper label. This one is certainly a beauty.
Five Vintage Sterling Silver Rings

Offered in this lot is an assortment of five vintage sterling silver rings. These are all right out of the sixties or seventies. The two rings that are similar to one another, with the peace symbols on one and the Native American type of design on the other, are both size 6. The smooth silver elongated looking ring is a size 7. The last two are both size 9-1/2 with one having a plus in a circle and the other a snake with small red eyes. The rings are marked 925 or Sterling, except the elongated oval ring, which is unmarked. All the rings have been tested and are guaranteed to be silver with a combined weight of 22 grams.
Set of Six Lucky Strike Bridge Tally Cards/Luncheon Place Cards

Back in the 1940s when people smoked and had bridge luncheons, these whimsical bridge tally/place cards were distributed by Lucky Strike Cigarettes. Unassembled, these cards are approximately 5-1/4 inches and assembled they are approximately 4-1/2 inches tall. This set includes a Mexican senor and senorita, a Dutch milkmaid, an Italian chef, an Asian lady, and an Irish gentleman. Lucky Strike cigarettes were inserted as legs in order for the card to stand up. Also, each card has a place for a match to be inserted. Five of these cards have never been assembled, and the colors are bright with no fading or tears.
The Steve Miller Band at the Carousel Ballroom from 1968

This poster shows elements of the acid-crazed late 1960s in San Francisco depicting some of the illustrated characters that hint at the later animated cult classics like Fritz the Cat, Wizards, and Yellow Submarine. This concert was a three-day event that was held at the Carousel Ballroom in San Francisco on April 26-28, 1968. The Steve Miller Band was the headliner with James and Bobby Purify and Sons of Champlin being the other groups on the bill. This size is approximately 11 inches x 14 inches, and it was drawn by artist, Rick Shubb. This is in great condition and has never been used, so there are no tack holes, folds, or creases.
TV's Lassie Playbook (To Punch Out and Set Up)

"Lassie, take us to Timmy!" A real blast from the past! This vintage, like-new playbook was originally published by the Whitman Publishing Company in 1959, but reprinted in 1965. The book is made of heavy card stock with images to be punched out (no scissors are necessary), folded, and played with. Besides the mother and father, there is of course, Timmy and Lassie along with the house, barn, farm animals, and a whole lot more. This book measures approximately 10 inches x 14 inches and is in excellent condition with no fading, creasing, or tears. All the pages are intact and have bright colors. You couldn't find one in better condition.
Ten Unused Sheets of United States Postage Stamps

Up for bid are ten assorted panes/sheets of mint, never hinged, United States postage stamps. All the stamps are dated from 1951 through 1963. Lucky Lager and National Bohemian Beer Proof Sheet

Offered is a linen mounted proof sheet. These sheets, that were once printed, were mounted on either cardstock or cardboard and then cut out to make the different beer signs. The illustrations on this sheet are for Lucky Lager Beer from Interstate Brewery Company of Vancouver, Washington and National Bohemian Pale Beer from Baltimore, Maryland. The overall size is approximately 23 inches x 37 inches with the largest bottle measuring approximately 29 inches x 7 inches while the smallest bottle is approximately 7 inches x 3 inches.The Lucky Lager bottle labels both are IRTP labels, making this piece pre 1950. With a little work you could make yourself four nice die-cut beer signs. This will be rolled for shipping.
Seven Arrowheads from the John Day River in Oregon

This collection features seven arrowheads from all over the Columbia River Basin. These particular arrowheads came from the mouth of the John Day River in Oregon (a tributary of the Columbia River east of The Dalles). These were found circa 1960 by Frank Buehler and have not been offered for public sale until now. The smallest arrowhead is approximately 5/8 of an inch x 1/2 of an inch and the largest is approximately 7/8 of an inch x 1/2 of an inch in size.
Carnation Evaporated Milk Pie Plate

This Carnation Evaporated Milk pie plate was a giveaway by Carnation. The back of the plate states, "ovenproof 473 Calif. U.S.A." The inside of the plate contains advertising for Carnation Sterilized Evaporated Milk and a recipe for pumpkin pie in ACL lettering. The plate is approximately 10 inches diameter x 1-1/2 inches deep. There are no chips, cracks, etc., and the colors are very bright with no fading. This is a very well made and practical piece of advertising.
36 Cut and Polished Agates

Agate is a translucent variety of quartz and is used as a semi-precious stone when it is of desirable quality and color. These pieces fall into that category with a combination of interesting colors and designs. There are 36 stones in total, with the smallest being approximately 1/2 inches x 1/2 inches and most stones being over 1 inch in size. The frame is 11 inches x 11 inches edge to edge. Some of these are "picture agate," and the images in the stones resemble plants or, in some cases, landscapes. We showed these to a collector and he was impressed with the quality of the stones and how well they were polished. These are sold sealed in the frame, exactly as received. This lot was sold in our last auction. After the auction closed the bidder would not respond to our e-mails or phone calls for payment. So you will now have a chance to bid on this lot again!
Set of Six Vintage Mad Magazines

This lot consists of six vintage Mad Magazines. One magazine is issue 86 dated April 1964 and has the "economy-minded" fold-over page as the back cover. Also included are issue numbers 81, 91, 97, 98, and 99, dated September 1964 to December 1966. All six magazines are in basically very good condition, but the conditions do vary.
Corgi #165 Whizzwheels Adams 4 Engined Drag-Star

This lot is for a vintage Corgi Toys Adams 4 Engined Drag-Star #165 Whizzwheels. It was first made by Corgi in 1972 and later reissued in 1973 with a different box. This toy and box are the 1972 first edition. We double checked everything, and all is original with a couple small factory chips and blemishes to the paint. The box's clear plastic is loose with wrinkles that would be consistent with age.
Vintage 1941 Swallow's Old Fashioned Root Beer Bottle Topper with Bottle

Swallow's Root Beer was bottled by the Cleo Cola Company of Muncie, Indiana. This vintage bottle topper is new "old stock," and is approximately 5 inches x 6-3/4 inches. The topper wants you to try a large bottle of the healthful and refreshing root beer. There are no tears, folds, or creases in this piece and the color is sharp. It took the consignor forever to collect the right bottle to complement this topper. The bottle was filled to take pictures, but will be shipped empty.
1968 to 1972 Mint Sets and Proof Sets (Ten Sets Total)

In this lot you will receive both a proof set and mint set for each of the following years: 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, and 1972 (ten sets in all). Perhaps the best coin in this lot is the 1970-D Kennedy half dollar included in the 1970 mint set. It was struck in 40% silver and, more importantly, was not issued for circulation. This created a low mintage key date for the Kennedy series of half dollars. These are exactly as received from the mint with all coins in their original packages.
