Lot # 192 (Sale Order: 191 of 301)

Scarce .476 .cal., Colt Model 1878, double action revolver, w/ factory letter. Revolver is photographed in Colt's Double Action Revolver: Model Of 1878. SN30184. Colt has 5 1/2" barrel, blue finish, hard rubber grips. Colt Model 1878 double action revolver was manufactured in 1892 & chambered for the .476 cartridge. Revolver has the Colt high polish blue finish hammer & trigger, w/ polished sides, case hardened lanyard loop, & 2-piece checkered, hard rubber, bird head grips. Colts have the rampid Colt trademark in oval. Colt factory letter that accompanies this revolver, states that it was shipped to London Agency on April 2, 1892. The top of the barrel is rolled stamped, 1 line address. Left side of barrel is marked "476-cal". The bottom of the barrel is stamped w/ British proof & inspector marks, & the numbers, "460 British Crown/CP & Crown VP Proof". Inspector marks are stamped on the inside of the cylinder flutes.
