PHILIPPINES TALIBON PARANG VISAYAS SHORT SWORD

Lot # 2453 (Sale Order: 451 of 822)      

A talibon style parang from the Philippines. Blade and handle measure 24 inches long (61 cm) with a 19 inch (48.3 cm) curved blade. The handle and scabbard are carved wood with dark red stain finish. The blade remains very sharp and is sharpened only n one face with the reverse completely flat. The blade is in good condition with minimal pitting and slight use wear evident. The highly carved handle is missing a piece from the pommel area. The blade may be considerably older than the handle and scabbard. This piece may have been re configured during or just after WWII.

19TH CENTURY GERMAN ARTILLERY SHORT SWORD M1849

Lot # 2454 (Sale Order: 452 of 822)      

Rare M1849 Faschinenmesser infantry sword from the Saxony region. The blade bears the "P.D.L." mark circumscribed in an oval on the left side of the ricasso, and bears the crest of Frederick August II , King of Saxony from 1836 to 1854. The total length is 24-1/2 inches (62.2 cm) with a 19 inch blade (48.3 cm). The blade tapers in width from 1-1/4 inches (3.2 cm) at the hilt to 1-1/2 inches (3.8 cm) near the tip. The well balanced short sword has a heavy brass handle with S-guard counter balancing the weight of the blade. The blade surface has a distinct, well-developed patina, evident edge use wear, and minimal pitting. The left-hand side of the blade has an area of rust near the tip, and the grip and guard have an area of green patina on the brass. The short sword is in overall good condition given a date range of 1849 to 1854. No scabbard is present.

INDONESIAN SUMATRAN SEWAR DAGGER SIWAH SIWAR

Lot # 2456 (Sale Order: 454 of 822)      

An Indonesian Swear dagger likely from the island of Sumatra. Blade and intricately carved handle together measure 18 inches (45.8 cm) with a 12-1/2 inch blade (31.7 cm). The carved hardwood handle is in the figure of a seated male with hands clasped to the chest. The scabbard is made from two carved and polished wood scales held in place with two wide brass bands. The blade has a degree of pitting obscuring the Damascus pattern of the steel. There is a crack in the handle at the juncture with the tang and hafting elements.

A pisau pemutik style dagger with carved dragon head hilt likely from the island of Bali. Total length of blade and handle is 16-1/4 inches (41.2 cm) with an 11-1/2 inch (29.2 cm) dark steel blade. The blade has hand-forged fullers on either side just below the spine. Blade, handle and simple wooden scabbard are in good condition.

PHILIPPINES GOLOK DAGGER SHORT SWORD INDONESIA

Lot # 2458 (Sale Order: 456 of 822)      

A Golok style dagger or short sword with Damascus steel blade and carved ebony handle. Blade and grip together measure 19-1/2 inches (49.5 cm) with a 14-1/2 inch (36.8 cm) blade. The pistol grip handle is constructed of a cut and polished bone disk as a ferrule of sorts amd a highly polished ebony grip. The pommel area of the handle has two bulbous eyes. The handle is likely not original to the blade. The blade remains very sharp and in good condition with only use related edge wear. No significant pitting or rust is evident. The scabbard has started to separate along the seam of the two wood scales.

Two swords, probably Congolese from an unidentified culture. One 27" with carved horn handle profoundly and intentionally curved, possibly a farm tool or variant of a sickle sword. The other 20.5" with wood grip with curled back incised with geometric designs. Both with rust, hand wrought.

SOUTHEAST ASIAN PEDANG SHORT SWORD MALAYSIA

Lot # 2460 (Sale Order: 458 of 822)      

A southeast Asian pedang style short sword with carved ebony handle likely from Malaysia. Blade and handle together measure 29 inches (73.6 cm) with a 22-1/2 inch (57.2 cm) blade. The blade has a slight upward curve and is wider at the tip than the hilt, tapering from 1/2 inch at the hilt to 1 inch. The blade has a developed and distinct patina but minimal pitting and little rust. he handle has been repaired with a glue ;line evident through the carved component. Blade , handle, and scabbard are in overall good condition.

Very good condition with some oxidation and staining on blade.

18TH C GERMAN HUNTING TROUSSE MEDIEVAL CROSSGUARD

Lot # 2466 (Sale Order: 464 of 822)      

24" German hunting trousse with 18" spear point blade marked "Dittmar" on ricasso, 2.8mm thick at base. The clamshell has been cropped, but the base pf the fitting remains. The crossguard appears to have been added and matches the style of late medieval crossguards which also has several notches from use, other hilt parts may also be of this age. The wood scabbard has its chape and mouthpiece and has an acorn frog stud. Very good conditon. for age.

JAPANESE KATANA WWII GI BRING BACK

Lot # 2472 (Sale Order: 470 of 822)      

Blade measures 24" from tsuba to point and 33" from butt plate to point. Blade is in good condition does have some tarnishing and wear. Tsuka has rayskin, two floral mekugi, floral butt cap and collar. All parts are matching and quite aged although not tight. The tang is stamped kanji signed, but difficult to make out. Has a leather wrapped wood saya hanger. The scabbard is hand painted with "Saipan Okinawa China" probably the GI's stations in the Pacific Theatre. Excellent old blade with WWII history. This lot has a reserve.
