CDR JOHN CABELL WON NAVY CROSS USN HELO PILOT 89

Famed WWII navy pilot Commander John Breckinridge Cabell deceased April 7, 2011, Awarded the Navy Cross while serving aboard the USS Essex as a LT. JG. flying a torpedo bomber scored a direct hit and sunk a Japanese warship, later CDR Cabell was a Naval helicopter pioneer as pilot #89, tunic, visor , ribbons , clutch back gold fill wings numbered 307, two pairs of trousers, copy of his personal history is in pocket. Near mint condition with slight staining on the left collar tab, minor stitch repair on the back, and some finish loss to the gold buttons.
