Vintage reproduction of a 16th century Italian swept hilt style rapier sword. 37.5 inch straight blade, with brass hilt, and wire wrapped grip. Dark patina on blade. No scabbard. Small logo visible in ricasso, with what appears to be a faded makers mark on opposite side. Overall very good condition. This lot has a reserve.

18TH CENTURY FRENCH SMALL SWORD ENGRAVED

Lot # 2229 (Sale Order: 229 of 346)      

18th Century French small sword with 32 inch blade decoratively engraved with floral scroll, and a motto translating to "Only honor would compel me to use". Brass hilt with gilt fittings "D" knuckle bow,and lunette guard. Grip is fine copper wire wrap. Maker marked Phillipon Marchand on ricasso. Mottled grey patina on blade, hilt excellent, no scabbard. Overall very good condition. This lot has a reserve.

Ornate Scottish Highlander dirk from the early 1900's. Silver fittings hallmarked Edinburgh, and decorated with thistles in high relief. Amber colored cairngorm jewels set in pommels of dirk, as well as side utensils. Blade measures 11.5 inches. Minor surface rust to tip of blade, otherwise very good condition. EARLY 19TH CENTURY AMERICAN EAGLE HEAD SABER

War of 1812 era American officers saber. 28.5 inch broad fuller curved blade, blued and engraved with patriotic and floral motif. Gilded brass hilt, with eagle's head pommel, and ivory grip. Leather two ring scabbard, with brass throat, band and chape. Blade shows loss and thinning to bluing from sharpening and scabbard wear. Hilt and fittings are tight, with hairline age fissures in ivory grip. Leather scabbard shows surface cracking from age, but is otherwise good. Overall very good example of an early American officers saber. This lot has a reserve.

Lingard Peacroft, Sheffield, Circa 1860-70. 6 inch double edge stiletto style blade, etched with scrollwork and bearing the mantra "NEVER DRAW ME WITHOUT REASON, NEVER SHEATH ME WITHOUT HONOUR". Maker marked on ricasso "R. LINGARD / PEACROFT / SHEFFIELD". Nickel silver cutlery hilt, with oval guard. Leather scabbard, with embossed scroll and nickel silver throat. Some oxidization to blade, and fading to etched panel. scabbard shows wear through at tip. Overall very good example of a Civil War era fighting blade.

ORNATE NAMED PRESENTATION SWORD BY RIDABOCK & CO

Lot # 2245 (Sale Order: 245 of 346)      

Highly-decorated late-19th century presentation sword, manufactured by Ridabock & Co, New York. Blade etched in decorative scroll, and inscribed "Vt. Nat'l Guard on one side, and "Awarded to Capt. J Gray, the Most Popular Officer in the Guard by the Rutland Herald August 23rd 1890" on the other. Gilt brass scabbard fittings bear military and patriotic motif Clamshell guard on hilt features a relief figure of Garibaldi, with knights helmets and shields in the background. Knights head finial quillon, with ornate "D" knuckle bow, and eagle perched on pommel molded in laurels. Grip is shagreen over wood, and wrapped in brass wire. Sword is accompanied by a gilt brass stand with figures of two dolphins with upturned tails as supports. Bottom of rectangular base is marked "Hour, Legivnel/Pari/ Made in France". Blade shows light oxidization spotting, with minor contact wear from scabbard. Hilt shows minimal loss to gilt finish, and fittings slightly loose, with excellent grip and wire wrap. Overall excellent example of a fine presentation sword. This lot has a reserve.
