COLT SAA .45 REVOLVER & LETTER FROM JOHN KOPEC

Lot # 2309 (Sale Order: 308 of 346)

Civilian-issued Colt Single Action Army .45 caliber revolver, with signed letter indicating evaluation by renowned Colt expert John Kopec. 7 1/2 inch barrel, with walnut grips. Matching serial numbers, including cylinder and barrel under ejector housing, indicating manufacture in 1883. Loading gate part number 8568. The letter "C" is oddly missing from the one line Colt barrel address. Gun is accompanied by a letter from John Kopec stating that after receiving and looking over the gun, he could not offer "official" authentication, as it was a civilian issued, and not US Military issued Colt, and he only authenticates Military SAA's. This however is followed by a description of some observations and findings of Mr. Kopec while the gun was in his possession. He found that the revolver was originally fitted with the "Eagle & Shield" ivory grips, and an 1880's style belt and holster; it does not have a factory record; "C" is missing from "COLT'S" in barrel address. He then goes on to compliment the gun as a "very nice representation of an early Colt Peacemaker". Both gun and letter add a distinct and unusual conversation piece to an accomplished Colt SAA collection. Caliber: .45 Serial #: 100978 This lot has a reserve.
