.50-70 .49 bore, center fire, 19" bbl, NSN. dark brown patina on barrel with good bore, rear sight marked in three lines RS LAWRENCE / PATENTED / FEB 15 1859, hammer holds on half and full cock , receiver shows small portions of case color finish in protected areas and is marked above hammer screw on right side in two lines RS LAWRENCE PAT / APRIL 12TH 1859 and behind hammer screw in two lines C SHARPS PAT / OCT 5TH 1852, left side mounted steel saddle ring and slide bar with side of receiver just above front slide bar leg marked in two lines SHARPS PATENT (VERY FAINT) / SEPT 13TH 1848, wood stock and forearm show moderate handling with single steel band on forearm and steel butt plate, left side of butt stock showing script DFC (David F Clark) in ribbon cartouche and no patchbox indicating that the stock was replaced with a model 1865 stock. In 1867 the US government decided to convert the percussion Sharps carbines and rifles to the 50-70 metallic cartridge with approx 31000 carbines being converted it is believed that this is one of the converted examples. James Burrow Custom Henry's Patent (pre Martini Henry) Breech Loading Rifle

.45 bore Center Fire, 28 5/8" bbl, SN 5307. dark brown patina on barrel with area of tool/grinder marks on bottom of barrel 8" from muzzle, very good bore, the firing pin is not retracting causing the action to only open a small portion of the way requiring repairs, left side of barrel marked with british crossed sword proofs and 52, early safari style rear sight with two flip up leaves, engraved receiver shows 60% case color with unique under lever, back action lock plate marked James Burrow, checkered wood stock and forearm show average handling with forearm being held via a single wedge pin and butt stock having empy hole from sling stud? at rear of trigger guard tang, butt stock has a very exaggerated cast to the right of at least 2 1/4" making the bore to line up with the left eye of a right handed shooter, tang and lock plate are also cast to the right indicating the rifle was custom made.
