Plant Manufacturing Eagle Arms Company Single Action Spur Trigger Revolver

Lot # 1024 (Sale Order: 1024 of 1029)

serial #6660, .30 CF, 3 1/2" ribbed octagon barrel with a bright about excellent bore. This is really a lovely and very interesting little revolver. The arm started life off as a Plant front-loading revolver with rear-mounted ejector on the right side of the frame, now with a neatly filed loading groove where the cartridge ejector was once located. The cylinder was bored-through for the use of modern metallic centerfire cartridges. The barrel retains about 30% original bright blue, the balance is flaked to a plum patina, the cylinder retains perhaps 55% original bright blue, the balance flaked to a pleasing smooth plum. The frame retains a nice 85% original silverplate with wear on the high edges and contact points and some light scratching on the right side of the frame. Hammer and trigger are a silvery case-hardened patina. The smooth rosewood grips rate very good plus with much original varnish and only minor handling marks and dings from the years, they are stamp-numbered to the gun. Overall a really nice example whose owner thought enough of it to have the arm converted to a more usable fashion after the expiration of the Rollin White patent. (37420-24) {ANTIQUE}

Factory Engraved TJ Stafford Single Shot Deringer

Lot # 1025 (Sale Order: 1025 of 1029)

serial #1026, 22 RF, 3 1/2" ribbed octagon barrel with an about very good bore showing light pitting. The barrel retains perhaps 40% original silverplate, the underlying metal a light plum-gray patina. The frame is a dull ocher patina and shows some generous traces of silverplate, perhaps 8% remaining. Both frame and barrel show loose open flowing scroll of very good quality with background punch-dot shading. The smooth burl walnut grips rate good, their finish worn nearly away, their fit is excellent and they are pencil-numbered to the gun. The backstrap is neatly engraved as well and in the center of the engraving is a name "CG Stanly", rather unique being it is sans the letter "E", a cursory search of names with that exact spelling does not turn up many folk, there is a physician in the 1870s with that exact name and spelling. There is light barrel-to-frame play, however the hammer mechanism works well, the barrel catchs spring is likely missing. Really a rather nice example, very seldom encountered factory engraved.
