Russian Mosin Nagant 91/30 PU Sniper Rifle by Izhevsk

Lot # 608 (Sale Order: 608 of 1029)

serial #DG4095, 7.62x54 Russian, 29" barrel with a very good plus bore that shows a couple spots of frosting. The metal surfaces of this 1943 vintage rifle retain 97% arsenal refurbished blue finish with some silvering on bands, buttplate and magazine. The stock rates very good as cleaned with a few handling marks, dings, chatter marks, stains and a few faint Russian stamps. The floorplate is lined-out matching, and the bolt and buttplate are matching to receiver and there is a Century Arms import marking on barrel. The rifle is equipped with an original Progress made PU 3.5x scope and an original mount. The scope has a post reticle and the optics are clear and the tube retains 80% arsenal blue with scattered fading and a spot of blued-over pitting. The mount is electropencil numbered to the scope and rifle, but the barrel shank lacks a scope number which is commonly seen on PU sniper rifles. PU snipers were produced starting in 1942, and with the mount it is possible that this rifle was an original sniper, but it is also possible that this rifle could have been post-war assembled by an Eastern Bloc nation or an exporter. A Soviet canvas sling is included with this rifle. A very good condition sniper that will likely shoot well. (207849-16) {C&R}

Scarce French Assembled Mauser WTP II Semi-Auto Pistol

Lot # 612 (Sale Order: 612 of 1029)

serial #6, 25 ACP, 2" barrel with a very good bore that has some scattered light pits. The metal surfaces retain 90% original blue with some oxidation on front and back of slide and triggerguard, silvering on slide, backstrap, triggerguard and frame. The checkered Mauser Banner grips rate near excellent showing some handling marks. The Mauser banner and serial number on slide appear lightly struck and there are no German proof markings. The book Mauser Pocket Pistols 1910-1946 by Roy Pender III states that less than 1000 WTP II pistols were assembled by the French after World War Two and that they lacked German proof markings and suggests that the French started serial numbering all over, from No. 1 on up. The author also states that this variation of the WTP is one of the rarest Mauser pistols. A great addition to any Mauser or pocket pistol collection. (207679-7) {C&R}
