The metal surfaces retain 95% original blue with several small spots of light pitting scattered about, a few specks of oxidation and multiple light scratches. The checkered straight grip English walnut stock and schnabel tipped forearm with beautifully figured grain, rate excellent showing a faint handling mark or two. The gun features an adjustable gold trigger, front blade sight, rear leaf sight that is missing its elevator, and a set of Leupold bases. Rare Colt Factory Presentation Case

Lot # 604 (Sale Order: 604 of 1100)      

This is a rare Colt factory presentation case for the Model 1908 Vest Pocket semiautomatic pistol. It features a faux pebbled leather paper covering on the exterior with small nickeled stamped sheet-metal hasp closure. The interior shows a burgundy-colored woven cloth linen lining with an impressed "Colts" monogram in gold on the lid's interior. The bottom section has a cranberry colored red baize lining and shows an impression of the grip monogram from a 1908 Vest Pocket pistol. The linen lining is intact and shows a dark circular stain, it appears as though it is from a grip monogram; there is a slight fraying to the lower right edge of the hinged portion of the lid lining. The exterior rates very good plus to near excellent with only a small handful of superficial scuffs or abrasions here and there. Really a very lovely Colt presentation case overall, very seldom encountered, perfect for that engraved Vest Pocket. (38211-19)

German M40 Stahlhelm with SS Runes

Description Update (5/31/17): Is an M35 not M40

This is an M40 Stahlhelm with a dark feldgrau paint that is dulling to a gray patina with scattered dings, scratches and light oxidation spots from the years. There are a couple spots of exposed oxidation underneath the paint and some further oxidation spots on the inside. The right side of the helmet features an "SS" rune decal against a silver background with some light staining and a couple minor spots of flaking. The left side of the helmet has a red NSDAP logo with a swastika in the center and it shows some staining, bubbling and light flaking. The side of the inside is marked "NS68" and the rear is marked "B2". The original M31 liner is in tender condition overall with the rear showing a missing section, most of the remaining rear half coming undone, crackling, flaking and crazing throughout. German M40 Stahlhelm with Chicken Wire Covering

This is an M40 Stahlhelm with a feldgrau paint. The paint shows overall flaking, oxidation spots and dirt staining. The chicken wire has a broken hook at rear bottom, scattered oxidation and paint staining. The interior of the helmet shows the same feldgrau paint, it appears to be stamped "S/4214" at rear, what appears to "FT62" on the left side, the remnants of a sticker rat rear, showing scattered oxidation and oxidation staining. The right side of the helmet lacks a decal while the left side of the helmet has a silver Heer Army decal. The decal shows show light staining, scratches, a spot in the center of the eagle that has flaked and a few small further spots of flaking. The black leather M31 liner may be a reproduction but it rates very good overall with a small area of crackling, some light crazing and minor flaking. The wire remains intact with all of its hooks present and it shows overall light oxidation. The interior of the helmet has the same dark feldgrau paint with some scattered freckling, light flaking with light oxidation around the rear of the rim. The rear inside of the helmet has "W.WULF" in white paint, it is also stamped "310" and the left side is stamped "ET66". The right side of the helmet lacks a decal but the left side has a Kriegsmarine decal that shows a few small spots of flaking and oxidation coming through the middle. The original brown leather M31 liner rates very good with some light to moderate flaking at the edges and scattered crazing and there is no chin strap present. A neat M40 with a field modification. The interior has the same green feldgrau paint with scattered flaking that is consistent with the outside and some scattered oxidation. There do not appear to be any discernable markings on the inside but there are the remnants of white paint at the rear which may have been a marking. The left side of the helmet has a silver Heer army decal that shows some light flaking and a spot of minor yellow staining. The right side of the helmet has the national colors with a large area of flaking at top, a few smaller spots of flaking, some white staining and crazing. The paint is turning a dull brown patina and it shows some small flaking spots, small scratches, some light oxidation and a small dent at the rear of the dome. The rear of the inside is marked with "64" in black paint and the left side is stamped "L64". This is an M18 Stahlhelm with a period camouflage textured paint. The helmet has a Zimmerit type textured paint over a dark green feldgrau paint and the paste appears to be mostly be a sand color with some darker spots of brown. The paint shows scattered flaking and scratches showing the base metal or spots of oxidation and one of the rivets appears to be slightly outward. The inside of the helmet shows a dark green feldgrau paint with a streak of white paint at rear, scattered oxidation and light flaking. The rear inside of the helmet does not have any discernable markings but the left side is marked "Si62". The later original M31 liner rates very good with some specks of white paint, some staining, scattered minor flaking and crazing. There are no decals present but there is an original chinstrap that shows scattered light crazing and flaking. A neat World War One helmet that appears to have been repurposed for World War Two. The helmet has an updated original M31 liner with a later chinstrap, with the liner rating very good with scattered flaking and dust staining. The original brown leather chinstrap is torn and missing an end and it shows scattered flaking and crazing. The right side of the helmet lacks a decal but the left side has a red heer eagle over decal who's meaning is unknown and the decal shows scattered flaking and some minor staining. The helmet has a textured tan and a mix of brown over a dark feldgrau or apfelgrun paint with scattered thinning, oxidation spots, dirt staining and some bubbling paint. The interior of the helmet has a dark green feldgrau paint with scattered oxidation, dirt staining, scratches and some light flaking. The rear of the interior is marked "I776" and the left side appears to be marked "Q64". The original M31 liner rates good with some tearing at front, scattered flaking and crazing. German M42 Stahlhelm

This is an M42 Stahlhelm with skull and crossbones on the front. The helmet has the remnants of an added camouflage paint over a dark apfelgrun and feldgrau paint with scattered flaking, oxidation, scratches and bubbling camouflage paint. The interior has a dark feldgrau paint with scattered oxidartion and some minor scratches. The rear of left skirt appears unmarked but the rear of the interior is marked "CKL64/4380" The original M31 liner rates very good showing some light flaking and dirt staining and the original black leather chinstrap rates very good with some light flaking. The front of the helmet has a white skull and crossbones marking that was stenciled on and it shows some minor flaking and staining. The interior has a dark feldgrau paint with scattered oxidartion and some minor scratches. The rear of left skirt appears unmarked but the rear of the interior is marked "CKL64/4380" The original M31 liner rates very good showing some light flaking and dirt staining and the original black leather chinstrap rates very good with some light flaking. The front of the helmet has a white skull and crossbones marking that was stenciled on and it shows some minor flaking and staining. This is an M42 Stahlhelm with a dark feldgrau paint. The paint shows scattered scuffing, small spots of dirt staining, scratches and some light oxidation. The interior shows the same dark feldgrau paint with some scattered oxidation, flaking and scratches. The left skirt appears to be unmarked while the rear markings are faint but they appear to read "63" and the bottom part is indiscernible. The M31 liner appears to be original and rates very good overall with some scattered light flaking and a few tiny tears. The chinstrap may be a reproduction it is marked "RB Nr. 0/390/0204", it shows light crazing and light flaking. The right side of the helmet lacks a decal but the left side has a Freikorps Sauerland decal that shows a couple small spots of flaking and some scattered specks of staining from the years. German M35 Luftwaffe Stahlhelm

This is an M35 stahlhelm with a light feldgrau paint. The paint is turning to a gray patina showing scattered oxidation spots on the base, flaking, small spots of paint staining and some freckling. The inside of the helmet shows the same light gray feldgrau paint with two large areas of oxidation at top, scattered smaller spots of oxidation, freckling and some light flaking. The left skirt is marked "Q64", while the rear is marked "DN1B6", the original M31 liner rates about good with flaking throughout, some tears at the ends with one end missing and there is no chinstrap present. The right side of the helmet has no decal, while the left has a Luftwaffe eagle decal that shows an area of flaking running from the wings into the center and further light flaking. A very good example of a Luftwaffe M35 helmet. (208258-3)

This leather shell helmet shows light crackling, dings and scratches. The hardware is finished in a gray phosphate like finish with the spike appearing light green and there is scattered light oxidation and flaking. There are two rivets around the Wappen and Mr. Brown notes that this helmet was converted from a Bavarian helmet to a Prussian "EM" helmet and the Wappen shows an eagle with the letters "FR" in the center. The right kokarde is the red, white and black Deutsches Reich that shows dirt staining and light flaking, whle the left kokarde is the Prussian black and white with light scratches and dirt staining. The original brown leather chinstrap rates very good with light flaking, crackling and minor dirt staining. The interior of the helmet appears original with the liner rating very good plus with light flaking and the metal parts showing some moderate oxidation and minor flaking. The rear of the visor appears to be marked "R.D.A.13/35" with the "35" being written in pencil. There is a further "56" marking on the right side of the rear visor and both the liner and crown are marked "L. Ritgen/Karlsruhe i.B. /1915", the markings are very faint. German G29/40 Bolt Action Rifle by Steyr

_serial #62c, 8mm Mauser, 24" barrel with a good bore that shows pitting throughout but evident rifling. The metal surfaces of this 660 coded and 1940 dated rifle are an overall dull gray patina with an area of chipping on handguard clip, some scattered areas of pinprick pitting and oxidation staining. The laminated stock rates good plus with an added dark oil finish, a couple cracks and repairs on the handguard, a repair at heel, scattered dings, abrasions and handling marks. The triggerguard, front triggerguard screw, rear sight slider, rear sight base and bolt stop are matching to the receiver while the remaining parts appear unnumbered or mismatched. The handguard and buttplate are loose, the Waffenamts and receiver markings have white paint giving them a highlighted appearance. This rifle was once part of the Robert Ball collection and it is pictured on Pgs. 225-226 of his well-known book Mauser Military Rifles of the World Fifth Edition. There is no cleaning rod present but what appears to be an original black leather sling that is marked "2804-0252" is included with the sling showing scattered light flaking and a broken leather buckle. The bolt parts and bolt stop are mismatched but all other parts including the stock and handguard are matching to the receiver. serial #5232w, 8mm Mauser, 24" barrel with a very good plus barreled action metal surfaces of this "42" coded and 1938 dated rifle retain about 85% original blue with areas of fading and some oxidation staining on extractor. The bands, floorplate and triggerguard are an overall plum brown patina with some light surface oxidation on the inside of the triggerguard. The laminated stock rates very good overall with a military added oil finish, a faint "H" Heer or Army marking, a minor chip at heel, the expected scattered dings, handling marks and scratches with the heaviest wear around the butt. The bolt parts are mismatched but it is of Oberndorf manufacture, the buttplate number appears faint but the last digits are "232" so it is likely the original buttplate, but all other visible parts including the stock and handguard are matching to the receiver and many are marked with the correct "(Eagle)/63" Waffenamts. This rifle includes an unmarked K98k style muzzle cap. An honest and mostly original pre-war K98k overall. (208230-4 ) {C&R}
