German M40 Stalhelm with Heer Decal

This is a German M40 Stalhelm helmet with a dark gray feldgrau paint. The paint shows scattered light flaking, oxidation, light scratches and scuffing. The interior of the helmet has the same dark gray feldgrau paint with scattered oxidation, scuffs and some light flaking. The rear of the helmet is marked "IN161", the left skirt is marked "Q62", an original M31 liner is present that rates near very good with scattered moderate tears, flaking, crazing and some soiling. An original brown leather chinstrap is present with one end being broken and overall flaking and scattered crazing. German M16 Stahlhelm with Disruptive Camouflage Paint

This is a German M16 Stahlhelm with a subdued disruptive three-color paint that is bordered by black paint. The paint shows scattered flaking, oxidation, scuffs and some minor bubbling of the paint. The interior of the helmet has an apfelgrun with scattered oxidation, flaking and scuff marks. The left skirt is marked is marked "SI66" and there is an indiscernible name on the front of the leather sweatband. The leather pads are missing but the M16 brown leather liner otherwise rates good plus with scattered flaking, crazing and soiling. An original brown leather chinstrap is included that shows scattered light flaking and crazing throughout. The tan leather M31 liner appears to be original and it has an added piece of tape on the left side with scattered light flaking, staining and crazing. The rear interior appears unmarked and the left skirt is marked simply with a "Q" and an original tan leather liner is present that rates very good showing light soiling and flaking. There is a broken black chinstrap present with most of the center being missing and the remaining portion showing crazing, flaking and a few light tears. U.S. Model 1860 Staff & Field Sword by Clauberg with Presentation

Lot # 786 (Sale Order: 786 of 1099)      

31 5/8" diamond shaped double edge blade with lightly fading W. Clauberg maker mark on the reverse ricasso. The blade is starting to mellow with scattered fine oxidation and sparse minute nick and scratch and is etched with scroll and stands of arms. The etching has lightly softened with time but remains fully visible. The hilt has fancy cast brass with a black shagreen covered grip wrapped in braided copper wire. The knuckle bow features a static guard with the New York state seal on the obverse and a folding plain guard on the reverse which has been engraved "Presented to / Lieut. J.D. Cole / by the Members of / THE YONKERS LODGE No. 232 / I.O.O.F.". The brass has an even bright finish, the grip wrapping remains tight and intact and the red buffer washer is lightly soiled and fading and cracked but remains mostly intact. The tubular steel scabbard is equipped with brass triple ring hangers and drag. The nickel shows patches of modest fading and light pitting and the brass remains bright with light staining and only one screw remaining on the drag. A nice looking 1860 Staff & Field with Odd Fellow presentation. (58357-37)

U.S. Model 1872 Artillery Officer Sword by Horstmann

Lot # 787 (Sale Order: 787 of 1099)      

31 5/8" unstopped fuller blade is maker marked on the reverse ricasso "HORSTMANN / PHILIDELPHIA" and "GERMANY" under shield on the obverse side. The blade remains overall bright with some scattered fine staining and scabbard marks and is lightly etched "M. F. Stewart Jr." towards the rear of the fuller on the obverse side. The brass hilt with "D" shaped bow has nice cast floral decorations and has toned to a pleasing ocher. The dark shagreen covered grip rates excellent and is wrapped with tight braided brass wire. the steel scabbard is nickel plated with brass fittings. The scabbard is toning to gray with scattered fine oxidation and pitting, the throat is no longer present. An about very good Horstman 1872 sword. (58357-27)

U.S. Sons of Veterans Society Presentation Sword by Harding

Lot # 788 (Sale Order: 788 of 1099)      

This is essentially an 1860 Staff & Field pattern sword with a 28" straight double edged blade and 33 1/8" overall length. The sword remains mostly bright with scattered patches of fine oxidation staining along the foible and much gold wash behind the etching. The reverse side of the blade is etched "Camp 9 S. of V. 1923" with "Harding / Uniform & / Regalia Co. / BOSTON, MASS." on the ricasso while the obverse is etched "Presented to / George C. / Wallace", both amongst flowing tendrils and standing guards. The hilt features intertwined "SV" centered between anchor and stand of arms on the counterguard with floral decorations on the knucklebow and pommel which also shows Federal Eagle and shield and a black leather covered grip wrapped in braided brass wire. The brass surfaces retain much original gold wash in protected areas with exposed brass remaining bright along the edges. The leather and wire wrappings remain tight and the soft leather buffer washer remains intact. The included tubular steel scabbard retains all its bright polished nickel and the brass triple ring hangers and drag are bright with much original gold wash remaining. 28 5/8" unfullered double edge blade, 35 1/8" overall length. This is a nice looking sword, the blade remaining overall bright with scattered oxidation along the tip and foible. The blade is etched with Federal Eagle and scroll on the obverse side and "U.S." and scroll on the reverse side along with "Ridabock / & Co / New York N.Y." on the ricasso. The hilt has a brass double guard and knights head pommel and a grooved bone handle. The brass has toned to a pleasing ocher with good amounts of gold wash in protected areas and the bone grips rates excellent with no cracks. The leather scabbard is equipped with a brass throat and tip chape. The leather shows a couple light scuffs, the seams remain tight and the brass mounts have mellowed and loosened slightly but remain intact with a small shallow dent in the tip chape. A nice looking Ridabock Militia sword. (58357-31)

Unmarked U.S. Model 1840 Musician Pattern Sword

This example closely resembles a standard Model 1840 Musician sword with the exception of the unfullered blade and the leather wrapped grip. The sword measures 34" overall with a plain 28" diamond shaped double edged blade. The blade retains about 90% original polished nickel with scattered fine oxidation and sparse pinprick pit here and there. The nickel silver hilt retains about 90-92% fading brass plate, loss due to edge wear and scattered fine oxidation and tarnish. The leather covered grip shows a couple light light scuffs and is wrapped in braided brass wire having a reddish-brown patina, the brown leather buffer washer is present and intact. The tubular steel scabbard retains 95-97% original polished nickel with patches of fine oxidation also present on the brass mounts. Overall a nice, looking unmarked Musician sword with a seldom encountered leather grip. (58357-33)

Early U.S. Model 1902 Officer's Sword by Springfield Armory

29 3/4" slightly curved blade with four line "SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY / SPRINGFIELD / MASS. U.S.A." address markings at the rear of the fuller on the reverse side. The blade is nicely etched with scroll, panoplies and "U.S." on the reverse side and Federal Eagle clutching "E Pluribus Unum" riband with similar etching on the obverse side. The blade retains 95-97% original polished nickel with scattered patches of light oxidation. The hilt is composed of a German silver guard and fingergroove black bone grip. The guard has toned to an even tobacco patina with a few spots of light tarnish and pitting at the pommel and the rates very good plus with a few minor handling marks and spots of wear. The leather buffer washer is no longer present. The German silver scabbard rates near excellent remaining bright with sparse pinprick flaking, a couple shallow dents and scattered tiny fine scratches acquired through the years, the throat retention screw is no longer present. This is a nice veteran's sword measuring 35 1/4" overall with a 29" diamond shaped double edge blade maker marked "GAYLORD / MFG Co. / CHICOPEE / MASS." on the reverse ricasso. The blade is lightly etched with scroll and flags at the rear of the fortes and retains nearly all its bright polish with some minor scabbard marks and fine oxidation along the tip. The cast brass hilt retains nearly all its original gold wash and is decorated with a New Haven Veteran logo shield langet counterguard on the obverse and curved floral quillons. The black leather covered grip rates excellent with a couple light nicks and is tightly wrapped with braided brass wire. The black leather scabbard is equipped with a sheet brass throat and tip chape. The throat is loose and the scabbard has separated at the chape but remains present. Custom Venezuelan Model 24/30 Bolt Action Short Rifle

Lot # 796 (Sale Order: 796 of 1099)      

serial #27006, 7x64 mm (Brenneke), 23" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces of barrel, bands and bottom metal retain 98% plus original blue with the bright-polished action rating excellent, the boltstop showing some lovely pale fire temper blue. This rifle was modified by Ken Waters so that he could do accuracy testing on the 7x64 mm cartridge. The stock and handguard rate excellent as neatly, carefully refinished, the butt area reshaped slightly so it now has a scant cheekpiece contour. The stock is an overall rich red russet hue and the firing proof is still evident at the rear of the triggerguard. The original front sight is in place while the rear sight has been removed and the barrel in that area drilled and tapped for a steel target block, the rear ring of the receiver neatly drilled and tapped for steel target blocks as well, both are present. The bolt body remains bright and the original handle has been replaced with a knurled sporting style for scope clearance. The bayonet lug has been modified and removed and the front band appears to be a replacement; the sling swivels as well have been removed. All of the visible numbers are matching and the rifle is in a very fine state of condition overall. The checkered walnut stock rates excellent with light dings and other handling marks scattered about. The stock features three loop style bases for hook swivels, has a capped pistolgrip and factory hard rubber buttplate. The right side of the butt features a silver awards plate which reads "Deutscher Schutzenverband Kriegsmeisterschaft 1941 Kleinkaliber mil.Anschl.". The original military style sights are intact.
