U.S. Model 1842 Percussion Pistol by H. Aston

Lot # 1450 (Sale Order: 451 of 901)

.54 Cal, 8 1/2" barrel with an oxidized bore. The in-the-white surfaces remain partially bright with a couple small dings on the left side of barrel, some light pitting around nipple and scattered oxidation staining. The brass parts are dulling to a yellow patina with what appears to be Roman numerals lightly etched onto the sideplate, scattered dings and oxidation staining. The walnut stock rates very good with an added varnish, two strong inspector's cartouches, a small crack in front of sideplate, a small crack behind lockplate, scattered dings, light flaking and handling marks. The sideplate is dated 1850, the upper tang is dated 1849, the top of the barrel is marked "US/NWP/P" and the hammer appears to function well. A very good example of these late model U.S. martial pistols. (208510-29) {ANTIQUE}

Lot # 1451 (Sale Order: 452 of 901)

serial #3117879, 7.62x54 Russian, 20" barrel with a good plus bore that shows oxidation throughout the grooves but strong rifling. The metal surfaces of this 1955-dated and factory 26-coded carbine are turning to an oxidized brown patina with some chipping due to oxidation on the bayonet, scattered areas of light to heavy pitting and generous traces of original blue in the protected areas. Savage Model 1899-A Lever Action Short Rifle

Lot # 1465 (Sale Order: 466 of 901)

serial #111985, 303 Savage, 22" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces of this 1911-made rifle retain about 90% original blue with some high edge wear, some thinning to silver at the muzzle, sides of the barrel and bottom of the receiver, some small scratches and a few scattered freckles. The lever has softened to a smoky gray overall with some faint case colors remaining and a few small freckles and spots of pinprick pitting. The original buttplate shows some dings around the edges, toning to silver and the in-the-white bolt remains bright overall. The straight grip walnut buttstock and schnabel-tipped forend remain in very good plus condition as expertly refinished with just a few small handling marks scattered about and a very professionally repaired 1" chip at the toe. The original factory sights remain intact and the barrel address stamp is a Third Type stamp ending with the 1909 patent date. This rifle's date of manufacture puts it right on the cusp of the change in barrel date markings so it is probable that the barrel is original. Overall a quite nice example that remains in near excellent condition. (138476-67) {C&R}

The lever has softened to a smoky gray overall with some faint case colors remaining and a few small freckles and spots of pinprick pitting. The original buttplate shows some dings around the edges, toning to silver and the in-the-white bolt remains bright overall. The straight grip walnut buttstock and schnabel-tipped forend remain in very good plus condition as expertly refinished with just a few small handling marks scattered about and a very professionally repaired 1" chip at the toe. The original factory sights remain intact and the barrel address stamp is a Third Type stamp ending with the 1909 patent date. This rifle's date of manufacture puts it right on the cusp of the change in barrel date markings so it is probable that the barrel is original. Overall a quite nice example that remains in near excellent condition. (138476-67) {C&R}

Savage Model 1899-C Lever Action Rifle

Lot # 1466 (Sale Order: 467 of 901)

serial #72.244, 303 Savage, 26" half-octagon half-round barrel with a very good plus bore showing some minor frosting and light rifling wear throughout. The metal surfaces of this 1907-made rifle retain about 92% of an older reapplied blue on the barrel with high edge and muzzle wear, a 3/4" scuff on the underside of the barrel, some scattered freckling and some small spots of pinprick pitting under the newer finish. The receiver and lever also retain about 60% of the same older reapplied blue with thinning to silver, minor oxidation staining and pinprick pitting throughout. The bolt remains bright overall with some minor freckling and the crescent buttplate is a smooth gray patina with some cleaned pinprick pitting. The checkered pistolgrip buttstock and schnabel-tipped forend appear to be factory special-ordered in Savage's Grade C D style. The buttstock is of a higher grade nicely figured walnut and both it and the forend are serialized on their interiors to the gun. The checkering has worn smooth overall and the wrist and upper tang areas show a number of well-executed repairs as well as a repaired chip at the toe. There are also some minor small dings and abrasions scattered about the buttstock and forend. The rifle is sighted with original factory rear sights and a gold bead front sight. A good overall example of a higher grade 1899 that has seen some honest use. (138476-68) {C&R}

Cooper Pocket Model Double Action Percussion Revolver

Lot # 1471 (Sale Order: 472 of 901)

serial #6599, .31 cal, 4" octagon barrel with an about good bore showing pitting, oxidation, and strong rifling throughout. The metal surfaces of this revolver have been lightly cleaned with the barrel, lever and cylinder a smooth smoky gray overall with some minor oxidation staining, tiny pinprick pits and small dings. The barrel markings still remain very strong with only a little softening. The frame and rammer have toned to a mottled dark gray patina with light pitting and oxidation throughout and the brass triggerguard and backstrap have toned to ochre no doubt having been lightly cleaned as well. The smooth walnut one piece grip remains in very good plus condition with a few spots of flaked varnish and some small dings and handling marks, mostly on the butt. All serialized parts are matching, the wedge is un-numbered and the grips are numbered in pencil but it is not discernable. The forward triggerguard screw is a more modern replacement, the wedge screw no longer holds the wedge secure and frame-to-barrel fit is a little loose. Interestingly, this revolver's serial number puts it firmly within the second model variation but it has a six-shot cylinder associated with the third model. Double action function is excellent with timing occasionally off in single action. A strong overall example of these interesting and early double action revolvers. (138484-15) {ANTIQUE}
