Lot # 1625 (Sale Order: 626 of 837)

serial #61017, 8mm Nambu, 3 5/8" barrel with a very good bore showing a little frosting throughout. Rare Early Allen & Wheelock 22 Center Hammer Single Shot Pistol

Lot # 1626 (Sale Order: 627 of 837)

serial #315, 22 RF, 4 1/16" full octagon barrel with a fair bore showing evident rifling and moderate oxidation throughout. The metal surfaces of this pistol are mostly a mottled gray and gunmetal with oxidation staining and freckling throughout. The right side of the pistol shows more moderate pitting overall. The left side of the barrel is correctly marked only "ALLEN & WHEELOCK", the marking has softened some but remains visible overall. The hammer still retains some very nice fire temper blue mostly on the left side with freckling and oxidation staining on the remaining areas. The smooth walnut grips are stamp-numbered to the gun and remain in very good plus condition retaining a healthy amount of varnish along with a few minor dings and handling marks. All serialized parts appear to be matching although the barrel pivot screw may be a later replacement. A solid example overall that remains fully functional. (138512-6) {ANTIQUE}

German C96 Semi-Auto Pistol by Mauser Oberndorf

Lot # 1627 (Sale Order: 628 of 837)

serial #287074, 30 Mauser, 5 1/2" barrel with a fair bore showing frosting, light oxidation and worn but visible rifling throughout. The metal surfaces of this pistol retain about 94% reapplied high polish blue with a spots of freckling, oxidation staining and some old light pitting underneath the newer finish. Most of the markings are still quite legible and all visible serialized parts appear to be matching. The grooved hardwood grips are stamp-numbered to the gun and remain in good overall condition as refinished and repaired with synthetic material around the edges of both panels. The lanyard ring is intact and everything appears to function normally. Despite the rather worn bore, this refinished example may still prove to be a decent shooter or entry-level example for the budding collector. (138050-652) {C&R}

German C96 Semi-Auto Pistol by Mauser Oberndorf

Lot # 1628 (Sale Order: 629 of 837)

serial #831809, 30 Mauser, 5 1/2" barrel with a fair bore showing some frosting, light oxidation and worn but visible rifling throughout. The metal surfaces of this M30 pistol retain about 98% plus reapplied high polish blue with a few scattered freckles, light operational wear and some scattered pinprick pitting underneath the newer finish. The bolt and hammer have been rather nicely jeweled and the trigger, extractor, safety and sight elevator have been gold washed which is largely intact with some flaking and operational wear. Despite the heavy finish most of the markings are still rather crisp and quite legible. The smooth hardwood grips are rather crude replacements that show some light dings, handling marks and a filled-in plug on either panel. The slide wedge is numbered 7437 and there is no lanyard ring present. The pistol appears to function normally and may still prove to be a decent shooter or entry-level example. (137942-131) {MODERN}

German C96 Bolo Semi-Auto Pistol by Mauser Oberndorf

Lot # 1629 (Sale Order: 630 of 837)

serial #666967, 9mm, 4" barrel with a bright near excellent bore showing a little frosting scattered about. This pistol has been professionally re-chambered to 9mm as the muzzle shows more modern machining at the crown and the pistol is C.A.I. importer-marked on the right side as "7.63" caliber. The metal surfaces are a dull gray overall with patches of minor to more moderate cleaned pitting scattered about. All of the markings are still quite visible. The "red nine" grips are most likely more modern replacements affixed after the conversion and the modern grip screw enters from the right side. The grips do remain in very good condition although they are a little proud of the frame and show some areas of worn finish, a few dings and minor handling marks. The lanyard ring is still attached, the floorplate is numbered 8845 but the other visible parts appear to be matching. Two reproduction stripper clips are included with this pistol. A salty but rather interesting example overall. (138050-653) {MODERN}

L. W. Pond Single Action Belt Revolver

Lot # 1630 (Sale Order: 631 of 837)

serial #5667, 32 RF, 5" octagon barrel with a very good bore showing strong rifling, minor frosting and some small patches of oxidation. The metal surfaces of this revolver have been lightly cleaned into the white with some scattered light freckling, a few patches of fine pinprick pitting and some tiny dings. A number of the screw heads show some light slot damage. The barrel markings are still quite visible and this example is stamped on the left flat "MANUF'D FOR SMITH & WESSON PAT'D APRIL 3.1855". This mark was applied to all remaining revolvers in the factory after Lucius Pond lost a lawsuit from Smith & Wesson for his infringement on the Rollin White patent. The smooth rosewood grips remain in near excellent condition with a few small dings and handling marks, the right panel is pencil-numbered to the gun and the left is un-numbered. This example retains its small screwdriver secured into the butt and timing and lockup are very solid. Also included is an old leather flap holster that has no doubt been with this pistol for quite some time. It remains in fair condition with most of its black finish flaked away to bare brown leather and is missing its belt flap and retention strap. A solid example of these interesting tip-up revolvers. Lot # 1632 (Sale Order: 633 of 837)

serial #483, 22 RF, 3 3/16" barrel with a good bore showing strong rifling, frosting and light oxidation throughout. The metal surfaces of this revolver retain perhaps 20% original bright blue on the barrel and cylinder mostly in the protected areas with the remainder toned to brownish gray with scattered freckling and light oxidation staining. The hammer and trigger retain some hints of case-hardened colors and have mostly toned to smooth gray. The frame retains almost all of its original silver plate with some mild tarnishing, scratches and some small spots of flaking most prominently on the backstrap. A number of the screw heads show some minor slot damage and the barrel markings are still very legible. The smooth rosewood grips are in excellent condition retaining most of their original varnish with some small spots of flaking and a few minor dings. The right panel is stamp-numbered to the gun and the left is un-numbered. Timing and lockup are very good, barrel-to-frame fit is excellent and the barrel and cylinder are matching to the frame by assembly number. Smith & Wesson No. 1 1/2 Second Issue Revolver

Lot # 1633 (Sale Order: 634 of 837)

serial #118802, 32 RF Long, 2 3/4" barrel with a fair bore showing good rifling and moderate oxidation throughout. This revolver features an interesting and scarce barrel length with the Smith & Wesson markings correctly stamped on the left side of the barrel rather than the top rib. The metal surfaces of this revolver retain perhaps 10% original bright blue streaks scattered about with the remainder toned to a dull gray patina along with patches of light pinprick pitting and oxidation staining. The hinge screw is a more modern replacement and two of the chambers and flutes of the cylinder have cracked. The smooth rosewood grips remain in very good condition with mostly worn finish, three dings on the top right panel, two dings on the left, some smaller scattered handling marks and a few small chips. The left panel is un-numbered and the right is stamp-numbered to the gun along with "R C 1972" scratched on the inside. Assembly numbers are difficult to discern but timing and lockup are still quite solid and barrel-to-frame fit is a little loose. A salty example of a rather scarce No. 1 1/2 variant. Custom Winchester Model 1885 Low Wall Rifle by C. C. Johnson

Lot # 1635 (Sale Order: 636 of 837)

serial #26599, 22 LR, 26" octagon barrel with a bright near excellent bore showing just a few tiny pinprick pits here an there. This rifle was modified to 22 LR by gunsmith C. C. Johnson of Thackery, Ohio and bears his stamp on the left side barrel flat at the breech. The metal surfaces of the barrel and frame have been cleaned into the white and show some old spots of cleaned pinprick pitting, scattered freckling, light oxidation staining, scratches and some spots of old hardened grease or preservative scattered about. The lever, breech block, hammer and lower tang retain about 70% older reapplied blue with high edge wear, areas worn to silvery gray, freckling and light oxidation staining. The straight grip walnut buttstock and schnabel forend remain in about good condition overall as lightly cleaned. The forend shows a number of old smoothed-over small dings and chips along with some old preservative residue that could probably clean up, the ebony inlay at the tip is still entirely intact. The forend screw is a replacement and poorly fitted, its threads appear to be a different pitch than the barrel dovetail and it will not screw all the way in. The buttstock has a 2 1/2" thin crack at the lower tang, three about 1 1/4" hairline cracks at the upper tang, a repaired 1 3/4" chip at the left side above lower tang and some further small repairs, dings, tiny chips and handling marks. The rear lower tang screw and sling swivel insert are missing and the crescent buttplate shows some old preservative and flaking nickel finish. The original sights have been replaced with a Lyman ivory bead front sight and Marble's tang-mounted flip up peep sight, there are also two extra holes drilled into the left barrel flat presumably for mounting sights. With a little TLC this rifle could probably be a great performer. (138514-58) {ANTIQUE}

Argentine Contract Steyr Mannlicher Model 1905 Semi-Auto Pistol

Lot # 1640 (Sale Order: 641 of 837)

serial #5329, 7.63mm Mannlicher, 6 1/4" barrel with a very good bore showing some light oxidation and frosting in the grooves. The metal surfaces of this pistol retain about 90% older reapplied blue, darker patches of reapplied cold blue scattered about, toning to plum, light high edge wear, scratches and small spots of light pitting underneath the newer finish. The hammer, safety and trigger are still correctly in-the-white and remain bright overall showing some light freckling. All of the markings are still crisp although the Argentine crest has been ground off and blued-over. The grooved hardwood grips are stamp-numbered "02" and remain in very good condition showing some small chips, dings and a tiny crack on the right panel by the cartridge release button. The slide, barrel and frame are all matching and the mechanism will require some new springs as the hammer is very weak as is typical with this design.
