Serial #24398, made in 1882.
DH Grade 3. Circassian Walnut stock. A total of 702 Parker DH Grade 3 Lifter hammer shotguns were made. See engravings.
This Shotgun has a rich rumored history. It was presented to the seller's Grandfather in the early 1930's by the Berrien County Sheriff, perhaps Sheriff Fred Cutler some time after the Fred Killer Burke raid in 1930. This Parker Shotgun was said to be recovered from one of Al Capone's hideouts, and may have been from the raid which resulted in the confiscation of the two Thompson machine guns used in the St. Valentine's Day Massacre on Feb 14th 1929. This shotgun has remained in the family since then and was last fired by the seller's father around 1940.
We have no documentation to prove this story, however, it will live in the family's foklore forever. The seller has authorized us to provide his contact information to the winning bidder.
