2006 FORD GT HERITAGE EDITION

Lot # 1376 (Sale Order: 192 of 285)

The Ford GT was conceived and built as a road-going interpretation of the historic Ford GT40 race cars that proved Ford could triumph over its international competitors. The Heritage Edition Ford GTs were hand-built to commemorate the winning Gulf Oil liveried Ford Mk1 GT40 chassis #1075 which took consecutive wins at Le Mans. This example with 288 actual miles is one of just 343 cars built with the signature stripes and roundels that set it apart from the standard production run. With four camshafts and four valves per cylinder the aluminum block and head modular engine is factory rated 550hp at 6500 rpm and 500 ft/lbs of torque at 3750 rpm a considerable increase in power over the approximately 425hp engine powering the two-time winning GT40. 2005 FORD GTX-1 ROADSTER

Lot # 1378 (Sale Order: 193 of 285)

This 2005 Ford GTX-1 is one of the few roadster conversions produced by Ford. The GTX-1 was introduced by Ford at the 2005 SEMA Show. One of the Ford engineers Kip Ewing who had been involved in the development of the Ford GT conceived the idea for the GTX-1. He also supervised the project to completion. The involvement of Ford in the process meant that the warranty and other obligations on the car were unaltered. The GTX-1 was featured in various automotive publications along with several reviews including that of famous motor journalist Jeremy Clarkson who had quoted that it was one of the best cars that he had ever driven. The design was inspired by the open-top GT40 which was conceived in the 1960s. The car had a modified engine cover modified doors with the roof portions removed and a central removal roof bar. The car had headrests inspired from the Porsche Carrera GT. The 5.4-liter V8 engine?s power output is 550hp at 6500 rpm and 500 ft/lbs of torque at 4500rpm. A Ricardo 6-speed manual transmission is fitted featuring a helical limited-slip differential. It was Car and Driver-tested in January 2004 and recorded a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 3.3 seconds. CARFAX shows Ford Motor Company manufacturer safety recall issued on 06/30/2016: Passenger airbag inflator replacement.

1928 AHRENS FOX M-S-2 ANTIQUE FIRETRUCK

Lot # 1388 (Sale Order: 197 of 285)

Ahrens-Fox has long since been considered the Rolls-Royce of fire trucks. The origin of Ahrens-Fox traces back to 1852 the beginnings of the steam fire engine era when Alexander B. Latta constructed a steam-powered fire engine in Cincinnati. This was early in the era of the steam-powered fire engine and the development was followed closely by a young apprentice in the works named Chris Ahrens. Ahrens later assumed ownership of Latta?s company and in 1903 merged with American LaFrance. Ahrens-Fox was started in 1910 following Ahrens? sons and two of his son-in-law?s (one of whom is Charles Fox) departure from American LaFrance. Initially Ahrens-Fox manufactured a few horse-drawn and steam-driven fire engines but they soon switched to an apparatus powered by Walter Christies pioneering 2-wheel tractors then concentrated on 2-wheel gasoline engine-driven units. One of the most identifiable features of an Ahrens-Fox is not only the unique grille of the engine but also the massive upright pump with all its polished fittings. These features are what helped to secure the Ahrens-Fox fire engine?s place in history as having one of the most remarkable faces in the world of motor vehicles. This particular Ahrens-Fox was originally commissioned in 1928 for the City of New Orleans Fire Department. It was later sold to a fire museum in Louisiana at which time it was totally restored. This truck is powered by a T-head 998ci 6-cylinder GEO engine with dual ignition and a 3-speed manual transmission. This unit is also equipped with a 900 gallon-per-minute (gpm) pump.

1937 CORD 812 SPORTSMAN S/C CABRIOLET

Lot # 1389 (Sale Order: 198 of 285)

Henry Portz was one of the elder statesman of the ACD Club and was a passionate collector and restorer of Cord automobiles. In the late 1960s Portz purchased this car which needed a full restoration. It was affectionately referred to as ?The Hulk? in more than one issue of the ACD newsletter during the 1970s. Portz spent a lifetime accumulating parts for the restoration which commenced in the 1980s. The restoration took him 30 years but the end result was this very fine Cord Sportsman. Soon after completion in 2011 well-known collector Jules Huemann and his wife convinced Henry to sell his car. Huemann then sold the car to a famed Danish collector. Because of Portzs efforts this car comes equipped with scarcely seen Cord factory options. There are no build records from the factory so what this car originally came equipped with is unknown. Henry Portz intended this car to be the best so no stone was left unturned to find the most perfect NOS parts and accessories. This includes factory accessory front Cord emblem wings correct vacuum wiper motors correct beveled mirror correct grip-style steering wheel factory 150 mph speedometer correct original keys and a factory accessory Philco radio. The radio is original with new tubes vibrator and Cord emblem and the art-deco speaker cloth is in good condition. It is also equipped with a Startix starter correct Stromber AA25 carburetor Air-Maze air cleaner original mechanical and hidden electric fuel pumps and a Cord stainless exhaust system with factory accessory exhaust cut out. This car is fully restored and was invited to the 2018 The Quail A Motorsports Gathering representing its first time ever shown. The paint and exterior are just as they were when restored. The interior was done with the best available materials from legendary Cord restorer Rick Hewlett. Due to improper preparation for shipping overseas the original engine froze and a newly restored engine was sourced. The engine was correctly installed and stamped with full notification to the ACD Club to match the damaged engine it replaced. The car is now show-ready and runs and drives well. The ACD Club featured it on the cover of one of their newsletters as one of the most beautifully restored Cords in existence.
