1947 DODGE WC CUSTOM PICKUP

Lot # 647 (Sale Order: 63 of 175)

This ?47 Dodge pickup started out as a meager investment and was transformed into an award-winning custom. The entire build was turned over to a custom hot rod shop located in Dandridge TN. The results of the build were featured in two magazines ? 2005 Classic Trucks and 2006 Truck Builder. The magazines will be mailed to the buyer after the sale. The original frame was boxed to strengthen the chassis of the truck and the steering was tightened with a Fat Man Fabrications Mustang II IFS. The IFS is outfitted with tubular polished upper and lower control arms along with a rack & pinion steering setup. Stopping power is handled by a set of slotted and drilled rotors and big red calipers by CPP. The suspension all four corners is comprised of QA1 coilover shocks with a 4-link bar system which helps to control the Ford 9? rear end. A professionally built Ford 351ci Windsor high-performance roller engine resides under the hood. Assembled in 2012 the engine produces 400hp at 6000 rpm with 405 ft/lbs of peak torque at 3700 rpm. The engine is outfitted with an Edelbrock Performer intake and a 750cfm 4-barrel carburetor. All of this is bolted up to a TCI C4 automatic transmission with a 3000-rpm stall converter. While there were few modifications to the exterior of the truck a set of smooth running boards were fabricated and the door handles were shaved. A custom rear roll pan smoothed tailgate and a pair of Billet Specialties polished oval taillights add a nice finish to the rear of the truck. The headlights and grille give this Dodge its own unique style and character. To add further character 3M decals were applied to both doors to resemble a farm produce delivery truck. These decals are made from the same 3M material used to wrap vehicles in lieu of paint and can easily be removed if desired. Finally American Racing Torq Thrust wheels fill in the fiberglass fenders. For comfort a TEAs Design seat was covered in bright red Ultraleather as were the custom door panels. There is black carpet with red piping and the Dodge Ram logo is embroidered in both the driver and passenger sides. The polished custom dash insert houses VDO gauges which are provided power through a Painless wiring harness. Vintage Air and power windows provide climate control. Lokar pedals adorn the floorboard and a Billet Specialties banjo-style half wrapped 14 steering wheel keeps the truck moving in the right direction.

This pickup is upgraded with a Vintage Air system power windows power steering and a tilt steering column for the convenience of a modern-day vehicle. The professionally built powerhouse 454ci V8 big-block engine is a Generation 5 Chevrolet 454. The engine is backed by a freshly built TH400 automatic transmission with manual valve body 2500 rpm stall converter and a B&M quarter-stick shifter. The mid-length headers flow out to dual 3 exhaust with short mufflers creating the sound of a hot rod. Feeding this powerhouse is a Mallory Comp series 250 fuel pump from the aluminum gas tank which has been relocated under the bed. Earls braided fuel lines and dual filters have been used eliminating rubber fuel lines. When it is time to top off at the pump the billet flip-cap fuel filler cap is easily accessible. The aluminum two-core radiator with dual 11 electric fans cools the engine. Underneath the frame has been media-blasted and painted with POR15 for rust prevention. On the corners the U.S. Mags chrome Rambler staggered wheel set give this Resto-Mod a lowered stance allowing drivability and comfort without the hassles of notching or air bags. The wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich G-Force Comp 2 tires. Finally updated cross-drilled and slotted disc brakes have been installed for added safety and stopping power. This build has less than 60 test miles on the clock since its completion.
