1963 CHEVROLET CORVETTE 327/300 SPLIT-WINDOW COUPE

Lot # 1123 (Sale Order: 282 of 329)

The 1963 Corvette was the first with hideaway headlights and the first with available Soft Ray-tinted glass AM/FM radio and leather seats. It was also the first with optional factory air conditioning. Only 278 of the 21513 Corvettes sold that year incorporated factory air most of them also featuring the Powerglide automatic transmission a fact that makes this superb 4-speed Split Window Sting Ray a very rare specimen. To call the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray revolutionary is an understatement. Both the chassis and body were brand new designs. The chassis incorporated independent rear suspension with a multi-leaf transverse leaf spring and a coupe body was available for the first time in Corvette?s 10-year history. One of the boldest features of the Bill Mitchell-designed Sting Ray coupe was a central wind split that flowed from above the windshield back through a rear window divider to the rear deck resulting in the now famous ?split window? designation for 1963 coupes. According to NCRS/GM Shipping Data Records this car was produced on May 8 1963 and delivered new to Ray Benson Inc. in Utica New York. Today featuring a spectacular body-off restoration by the Naber Brothers of Houston Texas it is correctly finished in Silver Blue metallic paint with a black interior and features a matching-numbers drivetrain composed of the L75 327/300 HP V-8 4-speed manual transmission and 3.36:1 Positraction third member. It rides on 6.70x15-inch white-stripe tires with full wheel covers and is equipped with the aforementioned factory air conditioning power steering power windows aluminized exhaust and an AM/FM radio. A well-sorted example showing just over 70000 original miles this rare factory air 4-speed coupe comes with impressive documentation. In 2009 it earned Bloomington Gold and NCRS Top Flight Certification and Al Grenning?s highly respected Classic Car Affirmation Service affirmed the engine stamp pad. The factory-original trim tag remains intact and the owner?s manual and sales brochure title search restoration receipts Bloomington and NCRS certificates and judging sheets are included. Extremely rare factory correct and well documented this 1963 Split Window Sting Ray has everything to recommend it to the most discerning Corvette enthusiast.

1989 PONTIAC TRANS AM FUNNY CAR SKOAL BANDIT

Lot # 1125.1 (Sale Order: 285 of 329)

This car was previously owned by Don The Snake Prudhomme. The Skoal Bandit was the last funny car the drag racing superstar drove in his career before returning to the Top Fuel ranks in 1990. Prudhomme drove the car to a 5.17 second run and a new NHRA record in the process of winning the Budweiser-sponsored Bud Shootout at Indianapolis where is also won the Funny Car Eliminator at the US nationals the same weekend. The teams spent a great deal of time in Pontiac Divisions wind tunnel facility refining the shape of the body to direct airflow toward the engines air injector scoop and to produce extra downforce at the rear. The latter feature attracted the attention of the NHRA officials who promptly outlawed it after the US Nationals. The car is powered by a supercharged nitro-burning aluminum block HEMI engine with fuel injection Mallor twin magneto ignition and overdrive transmission. It utilizes a tube frame with a solid-mounted front and rear suspension and a 12-gallon fuel tank. It rolls on Goodyear Racing rubber surrounding Cragar wheels. This was the first funny car to break into the teens with a 5.193second run at 265.8mph in Houston on March 2 1989. The Funny Car is still festooned in its original Skoal Tobacco graphics and is ready to run. **NOT STREET LEGAL. SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY**

1965 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE 396/425HP

Lot # 1138 (Sale Order: 298 of 329)

This is a very original 1965 Corvette convertible in largely un-restored condition. 396/425hp engine with original 4 speed transmission. It has power windows and a telescoping teak steering wheel. It comes with both soft and hard tops. The original soft top shows its age so a new uninstalled date coded soft top with seals comes with the car. All mechanicals have been inspected and are in perfect working condition. Engine and transmission were disassembled and reassembled to assure integrity. All brakes bushings and suspension parts have been inspected and repaired or replaced as necessary to have the car in perfect driving condition. All of the chrome is original so there are some minor imperfections that would be typical of a car this age. It appears that there may have been some paint touch up at some point but the paint shows very well. Knock-off aftermarket wheels. I have owned this car for 6 years. I have researched the history as far back as possible. In 1981 the car was placed in storage and not driven until I purchased it. I have driven less that 300 miles since then. This is a beautiful car in a rare color with unusual options. It shows extremely well.
