Overall very good condition The folded map of the division positions is present but partially separated from the binding. Overall very good condition with corner bumps and storage wear. The second book is the soft cover 1929 edition of History and Rhymes of the Lost Battalion with 140 pages. Very good condition tight copy with corner bumps and a small cover abrasion. EARLY WWI ERA U.S 48 STAR STAGGERED PATTERN FLAG.

United States 48 star flag with the stars arranged in an eight-star, six-row, staggered row pattern. This pattern seems to have been in use up until 1918. Photographic do...morecumentation exists for use of the staggered row pattern flag through World War One but not afterwards. This flag is printed on muslin, measures 19.5" x 35" and is displayed in a 26" x 38" frame. The 48 star flag became official in 1912 with the admission of New Mexico and Arizona and remained the official flag until the admission of Alaska in 1959. There is damage in the lower left corner. Presidents Taft, Wilson, Harding, Coolidge, Hoover, Roosevelt, Truman, and Eisenhower all served under the 48 star flag. World War I, World War II, and the Korean War were all fought under it. Poster measures 45.75" x 30.875.Created by Lucien Jonas and printed by the firm Devambez, a printing company in Paris. At the time of WW1, France had the second largest Colonial Empire in the world., sending a half a million men from its colonies in North and West Africa and Indochina to serve on the European Front.The poster features a Senegalese infantryman leaping into a German trench followed by a French soldier, two Indochinese soldiers and another Senegalese soldier. POST WWI USMC IDED GROUP INCL. MARINE P 1912 CAP

Post World War One grouping identified to Edgar A. Carpenter, United States Marine Corps. The centerpiece of this group is his 1912 pattern bell crown dress blue cap whic...moreh is accompanied by two photographs of Carpenter in uniform and an "in memory" certificate from President Ronald Reagan. The cap is in overall very good condition. There are no holes; just a few small spots of surface moth tracking that have not penetrated the body. The leather sweatband is complete with no damage but is partially detached. The brown leather visor is sold with very minor wear. The chinstrap is complete but torn at the spot where it attaches to the Marine Corps side button.
