Jokerz - Pin by Williams

Lot # 914 (Sale Order: 85 of 91)

Best said by VideoEngine.com

Jokerz wasn't a huge hit in 1988, but it has several things going for it:  great backglass artwork, a stereo sound board (ahead of its time), an artful blend of carnival & baroque music, a stepper motor card wheel in the backglass, a cool motorized playfield ramp, and easy-to-learn gameplay.

The music, by Chris Granner and John Hey, merits special mention.  The unusual style of music combined with the use of the sound hardware produced a unique timbre and tonal quality...listen to the samples below!

Gorgar Pinball

Lot # 905 (Sale Order: 87 of 91)

Gorgar is a 1979 pinball designed by Barry Oursler and realsed by Williams Electronics. It was the first "talking" pinball machine. With a vocabulary of seven words (Gorgar, Speaks, Beat, You, Me, Hurt, Got) the words could then be combined together for different phrases, such as "Gorgar speaks" and "Me got you."  It also has a heart beat sound effect that increased in speed during longer game play. A collectors dream!

Gladiator by Gottlieb

Lot # 916 (Sale Order: 88 of 91)

Shopped out with new rubbers. LED lights.
Fully working shaker motor and set to FREE play (can be set for coin play).

ABOUT THE PLAY:
The player is an armor-clad warrior in a featureless abstract cyberscape, where the goal is to survive the six rounds of the Battle Pyramid. Drop off the swinging Catapult crane into the pit, bring down the Rain of Terror, slingshot around the upper playfield ramp, and build up the Cataclysm bonus. Synchronize the left and right sides for Attack Mode, advance the WEAPON and DOUBLE powers for greater scores, then spell M-U-L-T-I to start a two-ball multi-ball. If you can survive the Pyramid, proceed to the Beast Challenge and behead the three-headed monster, and become recognized as a Beast Slayer.

HISTORY:
Originally intended to be a pinball based on The Legend of Zelda, to be released after the Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. Mushroom World tables. Midway through development, Gottlieb had an agreement for the American Gladiators license on the condition that they have a game released quickly. This pin was re-themed and reprogrammed to match, but the deal fell through; without time to revert the game to Zelda, it was decided to release it as Gladiators

VALUE PRICE RANGE:
$1570 - $1830 - credit Pinside.com
