Lot of Three (3) Civil War Era Tintypes, one of a Union soldier in uniform, with rifled musket and bayonet, in glass-covered gilt framed gutta percha case; one of what appears to be a Civil War period band drummer in full regalia, in studio setting, in glass-covered gilt framed simulated leather covering with embossed finish; and one of Civil War soldier with what appears to be an 1855 rifled musket, bummer cap, and uniform, possibly Confederate (this image is reversed on the plate and U.S. is in mirror image on the belt buckle). Condition to all three is about excellent. Images remain in very high condition as does most of the plating to frame. Loose image with some minor corrosion to exterior edges. Model 1820 Infantry Officer's Sword, by Horstmann

Model 1820 Infantry Officer's Sword, with Indian head pommel, by Horstmann & Sons, Philada, beautiful 30'' bright blade with blue and gold details, pearl grips, and gilt crossguard and pommel. Baroque knucklebow attaches to shoulder of Indian and is decorated with floral type scrolls. In brass scabbard showing light simple decoration, the back of which is stamped ''132'' (possibly Horstmann's catalog number), just below Horstmann's scroll trademark. Used from approx. 1821. Condition is fine. Blade shows light wear near guard to blue finish. Gilt has thinned to approx. 30%, much of which remains on backstrap. Scabbard with light dents and minor discoloration. J.S. Silver is mentioned in several Civil War publications as a Union sword maker. Condition is excellent as lightly sharpened, with very small loss at tip. U.S. Model 1850 Presentation Officer's Sword

Lot # 13 (Sale Order: 13 of 643)      

U.S. Model 1850 Presentation Officer's Sword, 30'' blade with nicely etched scroll, Stand of Arms, and eagle motifs. Wire-wrapped skateskin grip with pierced guard, Phrygian helmet pommel cap, with top of hilt engraved ''Lieut. And. Riddle''. Iron scabbard is double brass banded with brass chape and throat rings. Upper band marked ''Adj. John Nyce/for Reg't P.R.V.C./33rd Reg't P.V.'', (4th PA Reserves 33rd Inf.), who started the war with altered flintlock muskets, and marched toward Manasses in 1862. This regiment fought continuously throughout the Civil War. Their glorious history reads like a novel, and no doubt both Riddle and Nyce played an important role. Condition is fine with good detail to etching on blade. All twisted copper wire is present, although loose in some places. Scabbard with dent to both sides of chape. Inscriptions show polishing over time, which has slightly thinned its definition. A great old sword with lots of history. Est.: $1,800-$2,400....more

Model 1852 U.S. Naval Officer's Sword, by Horstmann, Philadelphia, with naval motifs named to Sargent Forre, which is etched on right side of 30'' blade. Sword measures approx. 36'' overall with wire-wrapped skateskin grip, Phrygian helmet pommel cap, with oak spray and acorns cast in high relief. Pierced guard is cast with ''USN'' to bottom portion; guard begins and terminates with dolphin heads. Leather scabbard with throat, chape, and central portion showing rope and dolphin motifs. Leather hanger and partial belt remain. Portapee to crossguard portion of sword. Condition is very good to fine with light thinning and minor toning to gilt on guard. Blade remains bright. Leather portion of scabbard and belt with light crazing and losses. Est.: $1,000-$1,500....more

Blade measures 36''; 41-1/2'' overall. This pattern sword was in basic use for 75 years and was nicknamed ''The Old Wristbreaker''. Pommel with Phrygian helmet pommel, with half-basket two-branch knuckleguard bow. Inspector marked ''WD''. Condition is fine. Wire wrap is present. Leather handle with light nicks. Early 20th Century English Pattern 1897 Infantry Officer's Sword, with Edward VII etched motif to blade and prominently displayed in pierced guard; 32-1/2'' blade, 38-1/2'' overall, with double wire-wrapped skate grip and checkered backstrap. Spine of sword is marked ''London Made''. In brown leather-covered nickel-throated scabbard. Edward VII reigned from 1901-1910. He was the eldest son of Queen Victoria and was on the throne during the last part of the Boar War. Although his reign was short, much of the shift in European power occurred in the first decade of the 20th Century. Condition is excellent showing just light carbon spotting overall to blade and guard. Treated scabbard with minor scuffs and scratches. Leather washer is present. Est.: $600-$800....more

English Single Shot Brass-Barreled Flintlock Pistol, by Patrick, Liverpool, .62 cal. smoothbore, 8'' barrel, walnut stock, with brass hardware and pineapple finial to triggerguard. Dating from the early 19th Century. Some sources state that Patrick apprenticed with Rigby in Dublin and was one of the few female gunmakers of this period. Condition is good, missing upper tang screw, with clear markings to barrel, and light to moderate corrosion to lockplate, which is in good working order.
