Early Colt Model 1877 Lightning Double Action Revolver, #15743, .38 Colt cal., 3-1/2'' ejectorless barrel, blue and case hardened finish, early checkered bird's head rosewood grips, in brown leather period single strap fold-over holster showing incised steerhead design. Mfg'd 1879. Revolver additionally features factory nickel silver front sight blade, acid etched panel, and long knurled cylinder arbor. Caliber is also marked to rear left triggerguard bow. Condition is fine to near excellent. Barrel retains approx. 85% thinning and toning blue. Front and back straps show 75%-80% blue. Sides of revolver remain strong retaining 80%+ thinning and toning case hardened colors. Cylinder has toned dark with traces of blue in flutes. Grips show light to moderate flattening. Rare Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3 Double Action Revolver, #216, .38 Winchester Ctg. (.38-40), 6-1/2'' barrel, nickel finish, factory pearl grips with S&W medallions. One of just 276 mfg'd between 1900-1910. This revolver was shipped to Hibbard, Spencer & Bartlett, Chicago, IL, on May 29, 1907, with all features verified by factory letter. Condition is very good to near fine retaining approx. 92% original factory nickel with most of the losses to high edges of cylinder with very light spotting overall. Revenue Cutter Service Smith & Wesson Model No. 3 Single Action Revolver, with factory letter, #23895, .44 S&W cal., 6'' barrel, blue finish, case hardened triggerguard and hammer, with factory checkered walnut grips. Listed by serial number in the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wessons. In 1890 the Revenue Cutter Service, later to be named the U.S. Coast Guard, purchased approx. 140 No. 3 revolvers with 12 being issued to each ship or cutter, this gun being shipped June 27, 1890, and having the cylinder switched from a later serialized gun, also in the Revenue Cutter range, which is a common occurrence on this type revolver. Condition is about fine retaining approx. 70% thinning and toning blue with light to moderate micro-scratching overall. Grips show moderate flattening. Ensemble of Late 19th Century Revenue Cutter Officer's Uniform Items: (1) Beautiful officer's fore & aft hat, the interior of which is marked F.J. Heiberger/Military Furniture, 535 15th Street NW, Washington D.C.'' Condition is excellent with only very minor toning to some of the bullion coils. In japanned tin remaining in excellent condition, with minor scuffs and dents to exterior of case; interior is near perfect. (2) Additional tinned case consists of Revenue Cutter's Captain's dress epaulets by the same maker Heiberger. Interior of tin box remains in excellent condition; exterior with somewhat more scuffs and scratches than hat tin. (3) Slightly smaller box with Revenue Cutter's service epaulets, (both box and epaulets by Horstmann), for the rank of Captain, as well as bullion hat band and 17 uniform buttons; and a very scarce Revenue Cutter's officer's belt buckle of brass, with silver and gilt plate. Exceptional High Condition Box of Winchester-Henry Repeating Rifle Ammunition, 3rd Type Stetson's Patent, green labeled two-piece box, with side edge marked ''44 Flat RF''. Box contains 50 original rounds of long case single groove flat bullets with raised ''H'' headstamps. Dating from the late 1860s thru the early 1870s. Condition is excellent and, although not sealed, one of the short ends remains uncut, with label edges remaining crisp and straight with no losses; black ink is dark, crisp and vivid as well. This is by far the highest condition box of this type we have ever encountered. (See page 35 of the book, ''One Hundred Years of Winchester Cartridge Boxes, 1856-1956'', by Giles and Shuey.) Cartridges are the short case pointed bullets, non-headstamp variety, mfg'd 1860-1863. Black-on-green label marked ''50 Cartridges for Henry's Repeating Rifle, manufactured by the New Haven Arms Co., New Haven, Conn. No. 44-100''. Condition is fine to near excellent with light soiling to the exposed kraft portion of box. Label with light even fading and one small area of discoloration to lower center portion. All corners to this two-piece box are tight. Cartridges remain in excellent condition with just light toning to copper portions of case. The perfect accessory for that minty 1st Model Henry rifle. One of the Finest Original 1st Model Henry Rifles

One of the Finest Early Original 1st Model Henry Rifles known to exist, #1191, .44 RF cal., 24'' contoured octagon barrel, early humpback brass frame with original dovetail cut just behind ejection port, brass buttplate with early round heel, case hardened hammer and lever, blue trigger, barrel with correct early small format address stamping ''Henry's Patent Oct. 16. 1860./Manufact'd by the New Haven Arms Co. New Haven. Conn.''. Perchbelly varnished walnut buttstock, as mfg'd without sling swivels, matching numbered screws with vertically indexed screw slots that have been hand fitted to the contour of the rifle at their individual locations, with ladder type rear sight marked ''300-900'', as positioned in forward dovetail, and correct nickel silver squareback front sight, which began very near this serial number. Mfg'd in the Fall of 1862, with all correct early features. Factory inspection mark consists of a center punch dot located at the extreme end of the lower receiver tang. Original four-piece hickory cleaning rod is retained. Condition is exceptional. Barrel retains approx. 96% original lightly thinning and toning blue; frame with even toffee-colored patina. Hammer with vivid slightly darkened case colors and trace areas of thinning to left side at actioning area. Faint case colors beneath moderately toning lever. Upper and lower tang screws, as well as buttplate screws, retain nearly all of their original blue finish. Domed hammer and lever axle screws show some thinning to top edges. Stock retains nearly all of its original varnish with only light scuffs predominantly on the right side. Action remains exceptionally crisp, six-groove barrel is near mirror bright showing virtually no use. 1st Model Henry rifles in this condition are nearly nonexistent, as almost all were called to duty during the Civil War. Scarce 3rd Model Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Musket, with angular bayonet, scabbard and leather hanger, #482005, .44-40 cal., 30'' three-banded round barrel, blue finish, case hardened lever and hammer, walnut musket buttstock and forend, with musket sights, sling swivels and trap in butt containing original cleaning rod. Correct unmarked bright metal angular bayonet with black lacquered chiseled nose scabbard, black leather belt hanger, and smooth brass swivel. Shipped from the warehouse April 26, 1895, with factory verification, and additional letter by George Madis, written in his own hand, discussing the scarcity of this bayonet and the markings on the throat of the scabbard ''McKenney's Pat. Jan. 12, 1886''. Condition is fine to near excellent retaining 92% thinning and toning factory blue, with most of the losses to left sideplate. Stocks with minor scuffs and oil darkening near metal surfaces. Niter-blue loading gate remains approx. 95% vivid with no real evidence of cartridge wear. Bayonet shows only the lightest carbon spotting with very small losses and thinning to lacquer finish of scabbard and light scuffing to leather hanger. Left side of lower tang marked with assembly number 928 and three X's. Interior of buttplate at toe additionally marked 928. Mfg'd 1886. Condition is excellent as professionally restored. Blue parts are correct Winchester blue/black color. Case colors are vivid and crisp showing only the very slightest wear at high edges.
