Small format ''GHD'' proofed with early war milled checkered trigger, and assembled in late 1942 and shipped early in January 1943. Pistol with commercial slide and grind marks beneath existing serial number caused by the removal of its original commercial serial number. Retailer Cased Pre-War Colt Match Target Woodsman, #MT7465, .22 LR cal., 6-1/2'' barrel, blue finish, factory elephant ear checkered walnut grips, with brass cleaning rod, Colt sight adjustment tool, and six boxes of period ammo. (One box being approx. 10 round short.) As shipped to Hibbard, Spencer & Bartlett, Chicago, IL, January 4, 1940 in a 10-gun shipment where the casing was probably accomplished, with all features verified by factory letter. Pistol remains in excellent condition showing only light wear from handling, with minor thinning at muzzle and at high edges, less at backstrap. Very Scarce English Proofed Colt Ace Semi-Automatic Pistol, #8075, .22 LR cal., 4-3/4'' barrel, blue finish, factory checkered walnut grips, with correct two-tone factory magazine. English proofmarks to barrel and slide, and frame below serial number additionally marked ''Not English Make''. As shipped to the London Armory Co., via Winchester Repeating Arms, on Sept. 29, 1937, in a one-gun shipment, with factory letter verifying features and shipping address. Pistol is unique in that it is fitted with a small finial to the bottom of mainspring housing for lanyard loop attachment. Condition is near excellent with just light high edgewear and minor wear at muzzle. Thinning and scratches to front strap, grip safety and mainspring housing. Small reassembly mark beneath slide stop, with additional minior micro-scratching to slide. Grips with light to just moderate flattening. Action is tight, bore is mirror bright.
