(1) French Made Type I Distinguished Service Cross. (1) Named Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster. (1) Named Silver Star. (1) WWI Victory Medal with Aisne, Aisne-Marne, St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne and Defensive Sector clasps. (1) 2nd Division, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Engineer Shoulder Patch. Two-piece embroidered cotton on felt construction. (1) Mexican Service Medal. Numbered "14488". (1) 2nd Division AEF Medal. (1) American Military Engineer Medal. (1) French Legion of Honor with lapel pin. (1) French Croix De Guerre with two palms and lapel pin. (1) Set of Captain Rank bars. (1) Set of Major Oak leaves. (1) Set of Lieutenant Colonel Oak Leaves. (1) Set of Engineer Collar insignia. William A. Snow was born on April 21, 1894 in Fort Hamilton, New York. He was a fourth generation West Point attendee, graduating in 1916. Commissioned as an Officer, he served in the Mexican Expedition of 1916-1917. After the outbreak of WWI, Snow served with the 2nd Division, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Engineer Regiment where he would go on to earn the Distinguished Service Cross and Purple Heart for his actions and wounds received under fire during the battle of Belleau Wood. He also earned the Silver Star and French Legion of Honor and French Croix De Guerre. Snow remained overseas with the Army of Occupation until 1919. Upon returning he attended MIT and received a degree in Civil Engineering. He remained in the Army, serving in various engineer posts and reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His final post was with First Armored Corps at Fort Knox in August 1940. He passed away at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center on September 25, 1940. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Section 3, Site 4347-A.
