(1) Air Medal. Named on the Reverse. Includes original box. (1) Purple Heart Award Certificate. (1) LH5 JVL Patch. (1) American Campaign Ribbon Bar. (1) Fallen Soldier Letter. (1) Studio Photograph of Gamblin. (1) C45 Official Training Photo. Photographs include R&R, training, aviation and more. First Lieutenant James J Gamblin was born December 16, 1920 in Newark, New Jersey. He served as a pilot on the C-47 #42-24077 when it was shot down by German Anti-Aircraft during the invasion on D-Day. All 21 members on board were KIA over Normandy.

WWII - COLD WAR CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER GROUPING

WWII - Cold War Silver Star Recipient, US Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Stanton Levi Myers RW907538 and 0-266450, Document and Photograph Grouping. Includes WWII - Cold War period official documents including promotion letters, military correspondence, troop reports and records, Silver Star letter and citation, Unit inventory lists, orders, Veterans Affairs, promotion and training certificates. Also included is a newspaper clipping scrapbook, original photos, post cards and more. Stanton Levi Meyers was born January 22, 1906. His military career began in 1920 when he enlisted in the Missouri National Guard (MNG). In 1929, he was commissioned as a Unit Commander in the MNG's 140th Infantry Regiment. At the onset of World War II, then a Captain and Commanding Officer of Company "L," 3rd Battalion, 137th Regiment, 35th Division, Meyers deployed to England in May 1944 and landed on Omaha Beach on July 5, 1944. On October 8, 1944, during an assault on a heavily defended town, Meyers demonstrated extraordinary leadership. Under intense enemy fire, he led his unit effectively and personally conducted several reconnaissance missions to ensure the mission's success. His actions earned him the Silver Star. After the war, Meyers continued his service in the Army Reserves, focusing on training roles before serving in Korea. He eventually attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Later in his career, he transitioned to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2 before retiring in the early 1960s. Meyers passed away in 2002 at the age of 96. He is buried at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery in Missouri.

Hampson covered 10 Marine invasions over 23 months, including "Pappy" Boyington's last mission. Following WWII, Hampson covered the Chinese Civil War From Shanghi, China.

(1) Collection of online research papers named to Salked. Staff Sergeant William E. Salkeld was born September 14, 1923 in Geneva, Ohio. After high school graduation Salkeld enlisted in the USAAF and underwent basic training in January 1943. In early June 1944 he arrived overseas and was assigned to the 551st Bomb Squadron, who were stationed in Suffolk, England. From July 8, 1944 to November 4, 1944 Salkeld took part in 35 bombing raids before he was rotated back to the United States, mostly serving as a ball turret gunner in B-17G "Mah Ideel". During this time he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters. He was discharged from the USAAF October 6, 1945. Once out of the Armed Forces he worked as an electrician and continued in the field until his retirement in 1990. William Salkeld passed away on April 12, 1991.

WWII USAAF 2nd Lieutenant POW Grouping. Named to Charles B Stafford, 17029304, of the 22nd Transport Squadron, 15th Transport Group. (1) Caterpillar Club Pin. Maker marked by Maco. (1) USAAF Patch. (1) 15th Air Force Patch. (1) Cadet Patch. (1) Named Dog Tag. (1) Scott Field Technical School Photo Album. Includes newspaper clippings, named mail, membership cards, discharge papers, official documents, and more. 2nd Lieutenant Charles B Stafford was born in Illinois and raised in Portland, Oregon. He enlisted in the USAAF July 31, 1942. He trained in the USAAF Technical School in both Scott Field, Illinois and West Palm Beach, Florida. After 23 successful bombing runs over Europe, his plane was shot down by German flak on March 21, 1945 over Celje while flying a bombing run towards Bruck, Austria. Following the crash, Lieutenant Stafford was pronounced MIA and taken as a POW. He was marched to the Moosburg War Camp before he was liberated by the 14th Armored Battalion on April 30, 1945. 2nd Lieutenant Charles B. Stafford was honorably discharged September 24, 1945.

Erickson was born January 18, 1919 in Muskegon, Michigan. Lieutenant Erickson served as a P-61 Black Widow Night Fighter in the 427th NFS. He flew missions from North Africa, Italy and the CBI Theater. Erickson's plane crashed over Burma on April 23, 1945, where he was pronounced KIA. He is buried in the Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky in Plot E, Grave 151.
