CIVIL WAR US UNION 81ST NY INFANTRY NAMED FLASK

Civil War US Union 81st New York Infantry Flask. Named to Lieutenant Colonel Jacob DeForrest of the New York 81st Infantry. Glass construction with leather cover. Removable cap present. Lieutenant Colonel Jacob DeForrest was born on October 10th, 1820 in Duanesburg, New York. He would serve as Captain and Colonel during the Civil War in the New York 81st Volunteer Infantry Regiment. The NY 81st would participate in many battles throughout the war including the Peninsular Campaign and the Battle of Williamsburg, among others. DeForset would later promote to Lieutenant Colonel during the Indian Wars. Lieutenant Colonel Jacob DeForrest died on March 13th 1904 in Rotterdam, New York. He is buried at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland, New York.

Leather strap and cork present. No visible marks. (1) Unmarked Spyglass.
