1965 Dodge Hemi Coronet A990 Recreation

Lot # 50B (Sale Order: 62 of 100)

1965 Dodge Hemi Coronet A990 Recreation VIN: 4155100173 Consigned from the Ed Randash Collection A990 Lightweight body specifications 426 Crate Hemi Motor has been refreshed 3-Speed Automatic Transmission In the 1960s, the Big Three Auto Manufacturers were ”duking” it out at the race track, each looking for the right combination of drive train configuration and the body to surround that power plant. The vehicles produced, while meeting the stock car association sanctioned drag racing rules and requirements, came to be known as lightweights. Chrysler’s version of the lightweight achieved great results on the race tracks. For the body, everything that did not contribute to a speedy trip down the quarter mile was deleted, including the heater, radio, carpets, trim panels, clothing hooks and back seat. The only outward change besides the scooped hood was a one-inch shorter wheelbase. The power plant was the revered 426 Hemi Charger V8. The transmission options were either the 3-speed automatic or the 4-speed manual. The car presented at auction, built by Ed Randash, to an exacting standard, is an amazing tribute to the Dodge Coronet Hemi A990. Historical documents were consulted during the build on this car and the time and resources were committed to do it right. The 426 Hemi Crate Motor has the Race Hemi Intake and the correct Race Carburetors. One must see this car to truly appreciate! The engine and transmission combination on this car makes it a driver either on the track or around town.
