Allen's Patent Pepperbox Pistol

Lot # 27 (Sale Order: 26 of 345)      

.31 caliber, 3.25" barrel, no S/N.  Steel finish with smooth wood grips.  Six-shot ribbed cylinder.  Cylinder marked "WORCHESTER" with "1837" and "CAST STEEL".    Hammer marked on left side "ALLEN'S PATENT".  Broad scroll and floral engraving on frame.  

Condition: Good.  Barrels and frame have taken on a dark gunmetal gray coloration with some smooth brown patina.  Grips show some dents and small cracks around screw.  Bores have some rust and corrosion.

Union Major General, Noted Indian Treaty Negotiator, and Topographer T.J. Cram, Hand-Drawn Family Tr

Lot # 28 (Sale Order: 27 of 345)      

Pen & ink family tree genealogy of the family of Union Major General T.J Cram(m), 19 x 32 in., framed, 21 x 34 in. T.J. Cramm was the US Govt. topographer who surveyed the final state boundaries for Michigan & Ohio; he was the Army lead negotiator for important Indian Treaties; and an important Union officer in major battles during the Civil War. This traditional family tree was drawn and lettered by his nephew D.H. Cramm who notes that Major General T. J. Cramm assisted him as shown in the medallion of information at the central bottom of the sheet.

Bowie Knife By F. Ward & Co

Lot # 29 (Sale Order: 28 of 345)      

6.75" clip point blade, 2.75" false edge, 11" overall length. Left side of the ricasso marked in 4 lines "B4*ANY" over "F. Ward & Cos." over "Cutlery" over "Sheffield". Left side of the blade marked "B4*ANY". German silver guard and bone handle. Comes with leather scabbard with belt loop.

Condition: Blade is in very good condition with minimal staining mostly concentrated near the tip. The bone handle is good with a yellowing patina. The scabbard is in fair condition with a lot of flaking along the blade and belt loop. The tip of the scabbard is missing showing the tip of the blade.

5" spear point blade, horn handles, silver pommel and guard with Liberty and Union. Pommel with the eagle motif. Red leather sheath with German silver tip and throat.

Relic Colt Model 1860 Recovered from the Battlefield of Raymond, Mississippi

Lot # 32 (Sale Order: 31 of 345)      

.44 caliber, 8" round barrel, S/N 36618. Most likely belonging to a member of the 4th Ohio Cavalry. Serial number put its production date in 1862 and in the range of those issued to the 2nd West Virginia Cavalry which later became the 4th Ohio Cavalry present at the Battle of Raymond.  Includes signed statement detailing its discovery during excavation for a new school gymnasium.

South Carolina Marked Whitney Type I Rolling Block Rifle

.45 centerfire caliber, 35" barrel, S/N 2223.  Barrel and frame have been cleaned.  Full-stock with three spring-retained barrel bands.  Rear sling swivel integral with trigger guard.  Four-part action.  Blade front sight with rear ladder sight marked from 1-4 and from 5-7 when raised.  Top of barrel marked "WHITNEY-ARMS-CO WHITNEYVILLE CONN."  Caliber markings cleaned from front of breech.  Tang marked with patent dates.  Butt marked with "S.C." initials.  Slotted ramrod has been cut.  

Condition: Fair.  Cleaned finish has a pewter patina.  Stock has numerous marks,dents and gouges.  Bore fair with some cratering.

Indian Wars Era Uniform of Lincoln Assassination Military Tribunal Member Brevet Brigadier General J

Serving with distinction as the Chief Quartermaster of the Army of the Potomac as well as participating in the military tribunal that condemned the Lincoln assassination conspirators, General James Ekin remained in the regular army and continued to serve in the Quartermaster department.  After his service in Washington D.C., Ekin was transferred to the Department of Texas to serve as the Chief Quartermaster of the 5th District.

Spanish American War Uniforms Belonging to William M. Ekin

Lot # 37 (Sale Order: 35 of 345)      

Son of Lincoln Assassination Tribunal member General James A Ekin, William Ekin followed in his fathers footsteps and served in the Quartermaster Department of the U.S. Army during the Spanish American War.  

Lot includes one M1895 fatigue blouse with "U.S.V." collar insignia and Captain's shoulder straps.  Also includes one M1899 Khaki fatigue blouse with Captain's insignia, along with two pairs of Captain's insignia on detachable epaulets.  Blue epaulets marked on reverse with initials "W.M.E.", along with embroidered bars and regulation American eagle.  Black epaulets have pinned insignia consisting of two false-embroidery silver bars.

Condition: Good.  Uniform colors are fast with minimal fading.  Some fraying of ribbon and light moth holes may be present.  Some loss of color and fading on shoulder straps.  Additional condition information available on request.

Frame dimensions 14.75" x 15.75".  Graphite on paper.  Depicts "...Frank Brown or Ed Evan's dogs." running alongside a fence with a man driving a carriage.  Includes papers relating to Edmund Osthouse including photocopies of newspaper clippings detailing his stay with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brown in Fort Wayne, Indiana. 

Condition: Good.  Paper shows some discoloration from age.  No major smudge marks o other defacing of sketch.  Frame is in good condition with no breaks or cracks on glass.

U.S. Type IV Fencing Rifle & Bayonet

Lot # 43 (Sale Order: 41 of 345)      

.45-70, 24" barrel, S/N 178362. Blued and case hardened finish, walnut stock. Standard Springfield M-1879 lock markings, correct 1873 breech block markings, clear SWP/1881 cartouche on reverse and Circle-P behind triggerguard. Rear sight removed. Mounted with a US M-1912 pattern fencing bayonet by Rock Island, dated 1914. A US M-1879 rifle shortened to 43" in overall length with a 24" barrel to simulate the length of the M-1903 rifle, for use in bayonet practice.

Condition: Very good. Retains some blue on the barrel and some traces of case hardening on the breechblock. Mechanically functional with a good bore. Stock with bumps, dings in minor mars, and a small chip out in front of the triggerguard. Fencing bayonet very good.

.30 caliber, 18" barrel, S/N 4425899.  1943 production date.  Late style switch-safety with bayonet lug and late rear sight.  No markings on barrel.  Sanded, low-wood stock with Inland Division "OI" markings in left side slingwell.  Additional inspector marks found on bottom of grip with "AAQ" rebuild marking on left side of stock below rear sight.  Stanley Works marked magazine.  Faint crossed cannons stamp on right side of buttstock.    Fitted with flash suppressor marked "HIDER,FLASH,SPAIN".
