New Jersey State Militia Dress Coat

Lot # 328 (Sale Order: 28 of 541)      

Model 1890 U.S. Militia New Jersey dress coat.  Navy blue wool with 9 rows of buttons arranged 3 across.  Bell-shaped elbows measure 9".  The skirt measures 20" to rough edge. Three-button cuff.  Center vent with 2 sets of 2 buttons.  Green lining on the inside of the coat.

Condition: Generally in good condition with some mothing.  Some of the buttons are loose with one repair needed.

Civil War GAR Canteens, Lot of Two

First 8.5" diameter canteen with burgundy and gold velvet cover with flourished initials GM. Verso with embroidered Co K 180 Ohio Vol. Second, 6.75" diameter canteen has painted lettering; McLean 16 Guards on one side and A.M. on other side. Canteen further painted with pin point striped circles on both sides. 

Condition: 8.5" canteen with soiled canvas and some threadbare lettering. 6.75" canteen retains ca 90% original paint.

.31 caliber, 43.250" octagonal barrel. Notched rear barrel sight, blade front sight.  Bedford-style lockplate.  Four-piece brass patchbox, brass sideplate. brass buttplate, brass nosecap and triggerguard.  Double set triggers, curly maple full stock.

Condition: Barrel and lock with dark brown patina. Stock has a repairable crack about half way down. Brass furniture with untocuhed dark patina. Very nice Bedfordstyle rifle.

35" blade, marked on the ricasso Ames and dated 1863 on the reverse. Metal scabbard.  Complete with a buff leather 1851 pattern belt, buckle, and saber hanger. Brass buckle with state seal.

French Percussion Elliptical Blunderbuss

Bore diameter 1.25" X 2.625", 23" octagonal-to-elliptical bore. Patent breech, Engraved back-action percussion lock.  Iron mounted furniture. Checkered walnut stock.

Condition: Barrel retains most of the original brown finish just lightly fading. Breech, tang and percussion lock have nice mottled grey look. Very sharp and crisp.  Stock is excellent with some nicks and dings.

Condition: All metal is gun metal grey with some staining blending in. Stock has dark patina with some nicks and dings.

J.M. Cooper Pocket Model Revolver, 2nd Model / 2nd Variation

Lot # 350 (Sale Order: 50 of 541)      

.31 caliber, 4" octagonal barrel length, S/N 431.  Barrel address and patent dates marked on top of the barrel in 2 lines. Five-shot smooth cylinder.  Blue finish with walnut grips.

Condition: Mostly a silver gray patina with pitting on the barrel, frame and cylinder.  The grips have nicks and dings.  Some of the nipples are damaged or missing. Bore is pitted.  Mechanically needs some work.
