*Regretfully Withdrawn* Jaguar XK120 Roadster

Lot # 46 (Sale Order: 51 of 55)

The Jaguar XK120 caused an absolute sensation when it was launched at the 1948 Motor Show. In the postwar era of rationing, general austerity and hardship it came as a stunning vision of what the future might hold.It was, without doubt, the most beautiful car in the world, and the fastest unsupercharged production sports model ever made up to that time. It's claimed top speed of 120mph was so astonishing that to prove it Jaguar took one over to Belgium and clocked 132mphThe response from the public at the Motor Show launch on 20th October 1948 caught Jaguar by surprise, and as orders poured in it was immediately obvious that the level of home and export demand could only be satisfied by moving from a lightweight alloybodied ash frame construction to tooling up for volume production in steel. This took time to achieve and the first 57 right hand drive cars, and 183 lefthand drive cars, were handproduced in lightweight aluminium alloy.Throughout the 6 year production run, Jaguar manufactured a mere 609 right hand drive roadsters for the home market and we are proud to be offering one of them here today.Finished in British Racing Green with beige leather upholstery this wonderful example has been subject to a thorough renovation with bills accounting to in excess of 20,000. Works completed included fitment of a new clutch, exhaust manifolds, stainless steel exhaust system, front shock absorbers, cooling hoses allround, electric fan and switch, and overhaul of front suspension, hydraulics, carburettors and starter motor. The attention to detail of the refurbishment is to the extent that even two new 12 volt batteries have been wired in parallel so as to avoid any issues starting this XK120 in the future.Furthermore the car has also been subject to a very detailed cosmetic restoration and the level of quality can only be fully appreciated when viewing the car in the metal.Included in the extensive history file are not only the invoices for the works carried out here in the UK by Jaguar specialists, but also the current and old V5's, a period photograph of the car with its former owners, comprehensive correspondence between its former owners Mr. David Watkins and Kit Constable Maxwell, the original UK Log book from 1954 as well as its replacement issued in 1973 and a Guy Broad parts catalogue. This rare right hand drive example is offered here today at a very realistic reserve. Not to be missed.View 1954 Jaguar XK120 Roadster on httpwww.coys.co.ukcars1954jaguarxk120roadster6 for further details.

Mercedes McLaren SLR

Lot # 47 (Sale Order: 52 of 55)

The heart of any car is its engine, and that of the SLR McLaren is truly outstanding. Produced at MercedesBenz's AMG performance division, it is a 5.5litre, 24valve, supercharged V8 producing 617bhp, making it one of the most powerful engines ever found in a seriesproduced roadgoing sports car. Impressive though this peak horsepower figure is, it is the torque produced by this stateoftheart ˜blown' motor that is its most remarkable feature. The torque curve is almost flat there is already 440lbft by 1,500 rpm and well over 500lbft between 3,000 and 5,000 revs. As Car Driver magazine observed ˜This lends mindboggling elasticity to the SLR, with passing performance that has to be felt to be appreciated.'In the interests of maximum fuel efficiency, the screwtype compressor is controlled by the engine management system and only activated when the driver floors the accelerator. Needless to say, the SLR McLaren delivers performance figures that are still among the best in its class taking just 3.8 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100kmh 62mph, it passes the 200kmh 125mph mark after 10.6 seconds and from a standing start takes just 28.8 seconds to reach 300kmh 186mph. The twoseater has a top speed of 334kmh 207 mph.A frontengined layout was chosen in the interests of optimum weight distribution, handling dynamics and braking stability, the motor's drysump lubrication system enabling it to be mounted lower in the chassis. The fivespeed automatic transmission was specially optimised for very high torque and also offers the driver the option of choosing between different shift characteristics using the Speedshift system.Reflecting the longterm technological collaboration that MercedesBenz and McLaren enjoyed in Formula 1, the SLR's carbon fibre composite monocoque bodychassis structure was produced in the latter's then allnew facility in Woking, England. Clearly showing its Formula 1 parentage, the suspension is by means of double wishbones all round. The powerassisted rackandpinion steering is speed sensitive, while the SLR's Sensotronic Brake Control SBC and Electronic Stability Program ESP enable its sporting nature to shine through while maintaining the usual safety standards. The pioneering use of composite technology has also been extended to the brake discs, which are manufactured from a fibrereinforced ceramic material capable of withstanding extremely high temperatures and offering a level of fade resistance hitherto unattainable in seriesproduced road cars. Topping off this technological tour de force is the electronically controlled rear spoiler, which rises to an angle of 65 degrees when the driver brakes heavily, boosting the braking effect by increasing aerodynamic drag and lending the SLR outstanding stability when braking from high speeds.Finished in its striking and iconic colour combination of ˜Arrow 300 SL' Silver with complementary red leather trim this particular example was delivered new to Berlin in 2005. In close to showroom condition, this striking supercar begs to be taken out on the open road and enjoyed. Mercedes intended to produce 500 SLRs per annum over the course of a seven year production run but fell well short of that figure virtually every year. Included in the cars history file are its Fahrzeugbrief and Master Data report by MercedesThese historically important supercars will remain one of the most iconic, powerful and luxurious cars made in the early 21st century, this particular example having covered a mere 1960 km from new must be one of the lowest mileage examples available. Here is an excellent opportunity to own an exclusive, usable, low mileage and iconic supercar that will undoubtedly be a future classic.View 2005 Mercedes McLaren SLR on httpwww.coys.co.ukcars2005mercedesmclarenslr for further details.

Ferrari 308 GTS QV

Lot # 48 (Sale Order: 53 of 55)

October 1975 saw the debut at the Paris Motor Show of the most successful shape ever to wear the Cavallino Rampante emblem, the Ferrari 308. The 3litre, fourcam V8 was more or less unchanged until March 1981 when Bosch fuel injection was added in place of the 4 doublechoke Webers, reducing the engine's power output significantly. Two years later, the 4valve per cylinder Quattrovalvole or ˜QV' model pushed output back up to 240bhp restoring the status quo.Built in 1984, this 308 was delivered to its first owner in Texas in the same year. The car has an extensive service history with foremost Ferrari tuner Bob Norwood, who fitted the car with a turbo and intercooler in early 1988. Bob Norwood has been building, racing, restoring and servicing vintagerace Ferraris and other vehicles for over fifty years. He's known for incorporating innovative developments into highperformance automotive design. In the mid ˜80s, Bob's modified Ferrari 308 QV, the first with programmable fuel injection, set two class speed records on the Bonneville Salt Flats and one of them stood for 26 years.Norwood continued to service the car up until mid2004 when it appears the car was stored up until 2016, when the current vendor obtained the car. Since import the car has been serviced by Ferrari specialist Supercar clinic in Bolton, and has recently had an interior retrim, a new steering rack, new suspension bushes, roll bar bushes and new fuel injectors. Offered with a UK V5 registration document and a current MOT valid until August 2018.View 1984 Ferrari 308 GTS QV on httpwww.coys.co.ukcars1984ferrari308gtsqv for further details.

*Regretfully Withdrawn* Ferrari 348 TS

Lot # 50 (Sale Order: 55 of 55)

First seen in prototype form in 1987, the Ferrari 348 entered production in 1989, replacing the immensely successful 328GTBGTS. Midengined like its predecessor, the 348 differed by mounting its fourvalvespercylinder, quadcam V8 engine “ now enlarged to 3.4 litres “ longitudinally, enabling it to be positioned lower in the chassis. Another new departure was the transversely mounted fivespeed gearbox “ a spinoff from Ferrari's contemporary Formula 1 technology “ which enabled weight to be concentrated within the wheelbase, thereby further improving the already brilliant roadholding.Initially typed ˜TS' and ˜TB' “ trasversale berlinetta and trasversale spider “ the 348 reverted to Ferrari's traditional GTBGTS nomenclature part way through production. With its aerodynamic skirts, spoilers, minimal overhangs and distinctive gill slats feeding air to sidemounted radiators, the stocky 348 looked very much like a scaleddown Testarossa and, with around 300bhp on tap and a top speed of 170mph, gave little away in terms of outright performance to its larger, 12cylinder sibling. Production ceased in 1994 after 8,745 348's of all types had been built. This wonderful example was first registered in France before being imported to the UK in 1998 and has been owned by the current vendor since 2002. Showing a mere 41,300 miles on the odometer from new, the car is said to be in a very good condition throughout. Finished in brilliant Giallofly paintwork and Nero leather interior, the car has been kept in a garage during its current ownership and benefits from a recent service in July of this year. Included is a history file along with warranty book, owner's manual, V5C registration and a current MOT. Here is a chance to acquire a superb V8 Ferrari spider that has been excellently maintained and benefits from a limited mileage.View 1991 Ferrari 348 TS on httpwww.coys.co.ukcars1991ferrari348ts4 for further details.
