A MASSIVE BLACK FOREST DOUBLE CUCKOO CLOCK CIRCA 1890

Lot # 22 (Sale Order: 23 of 140)

Please note that after the auction we will complete invoicing and then immediately close our offices for the remainder of the holiday season. There will be no options for...more making payment, arranging shipping or receiving winnings until Tuesday, January 3, 2023. The elaborate late 19th century wall hanging clock is surmounted by a deftly carved and detailed posturing wood grouse atop a peak of rustic openwork carvings, oak leaves and acorns over the double cuckoo doors and brown/black chapter ring with applied bone Roman numerals and carved bone hands, the dial is flanked by the trunks of oak trees and standing conifers either side of a full-bodied bull elk and cow on a fecund ledge of vegetation, toadstools, lichens and downward hanging fronds carved in detail fronting the three cast iron pinecone form weights retaining their original finish. Measures 48 x 29 x 14 inches. Measurements do not include the chains and the weights. Good to very good condition, noting that the grouse's beak has been professionally restored, there are visible chips to high points and edges as shown in the images, including the tip of the bull's antler, one leaf is loose but present, acorns on the crown show glue when observed from above on a ladder, the seller had the works brought up to par and the clock runs, chimes and the cuckoo operates, the pendulum is a total replacement. The clock runs while hanging in our gallery but as with all clock auctions, this cannot be guaranteed once removed from the premises. Be aware that internet sales tax applies to all Internet transactions and local sales tax may apply to local pick-up transactions. We happily provide seamless in-house packing and shipping services on nearly everything we sell. Until further notice, we cannot offer international shipping in-house. A RARE 1894 JONES NOVELTY THREE-FOR-ONE SLOT MACHINE

Lot # 23 (Sale Order: 24 of 140)

Please note that after the auction we will complete invoicing and then immediately close our offices for the remainder of the holiday season. There will be no options for...more making payment, arranging shipping or receiving winnings until Tuesday, January 3, 2023. The very rare tower form trade stimulator slot machine tempts players with a three-nickels-to-one payout if their nickel dropped through the top slot makes it past chute number 1 and avoids chute number 2 to slide through number 3. If it does, the player wins three nickels. If not, the coin is kept by the machine. The clever device features a nickel-plated cast brass coin slot opening with the maker's name in raised lettering on the overhanging top above a case with highly figured veneers and windows to the nicely finished nickel-plated iron mechanism, as well as a slide full of tempting nickels. There is a coin chute jackpot payout low on one side above the outset base with metal trim and the back door retains the original iron reinforcements. Measures 16.5 x 16 x 7.5 inches. Very good intact and apparently all original working condition with light wear at some edges and corners and a key. Be aware that internet sales tax applies to all Internet transactions and local sales tax may apply to local pick-up transactions. We happily provide seamless in-house packing and shipping services on nearly everything we sell. Until further notice, we cannot offer international shipping in-house.
