WWII US Navy Admiral Robert Dennison Binoculars

Lot # 2424 (Sale Order: 505 of 535)

This is pair of US Navy marked 1920s French Binoculars "Lemaire Fabt Paris" marked on eyes pieces. They are named to Admiral Robert Lee Dennison (1901-1980). They are eng...moreraved "Robert Dennison" over "Waterbury, Conn" on one side and "U.S. Navy" over 4382. The optics are clear and the exterior shows much age and wear with saltwater corrosion. The saltwater corrosion has aused a small split to one of the binoculars lens barrels..This does not affect the overall operation of the binoculars. Dennison had a long and distinguished career. He was on the Battleship USS Arkansas and the S-Class Submarine S-8 in the 1920s. He was in Fleet Command prior to WWII and later planned the successful Attu assault in Aleutians. After the war, he was known for preparing the Cuban Missile Crisis possible invasion on Cuba. Very interesting and historical US Navy optics. Comes with modern 2 page printed biography,

He served occupation duty in Japan and then enlisted in the Army is 1948. Rare SPIW XM19 Serial Flechette Rifle Magazine Lot

Lot # 2432 (Sale Order: 515 of 535)

**THIS LOT, AND ALL ITEMS IN THIS AUCTION, ARE INERT AND DEMILITARIZED** This lot is for two very rare prototype 30? round magazines was part of the Special Purpose Indiv...moreidual Weapon (SPIW) program are started by the AAI Corporation in the in the 1960s to replace the M16. The SPIW program came up with the prototype XM19 Flechette Rifle. Very few rifles were made and very few of their 30? round magazines. These are both the same and are numbered 135 and 195 respectfully. and it is our opinion that may be only 5 to 20 rifles in existences and thus very few magazines exsist. It is fair condition and shows much wear and age. The follower is stuck at the top of the mag and won't push down and it has no spring. The family of Jim Geibel authorized Donley Auctions to release these two magazines for auction.
