Description: This unusual and rare powder jar was produced, in pink satin Depression glass, for or by Dermay of 5th Ave, circa 1930. Shown and described on pages 54-55 of Whitmyer - Bedroom & Bathroom Glassware of the Depression Years, this jar still has the original 'Dermay' label and is embossed on the bottom 'DESIGN PAT No 79009. Originally contained make-up or bath powder but when empty was used for cards and the top as an ashtray - quite versatile. Painted underneath the lid and embossed on four of the sides with a Heart - Diamond - Spade - Club. Measuring 2 1/4" tall x 5 1/2" long x 3 1/2" deep. Description: Produced by the New Martinsville Glass Co and known as - No. 1926, this pink Elegant Depression glass powder jar features a separate rouge compartment. The powder jar measures 4 1/4 inches in diameter and has two compartments - the larger bottom area is for powder the smaller second compartment sits on top of the first is 1 1/2 inches in diameter, was designed to hold rouge or cold cream, and has a small lid. Shown on page 120 of Whitmyer - Bedroom & Bathroom Glassware of the Depression Years. With the exception of a little roughness on the rim of the powder jar bottom it is in excellent condition.
