This large oil painting on canvas by the noted Hungarian painter, Emeric (1919- ) was completed in 1973 and is entitled Aubres. Frame measures 45.5" by 61.5" and canvas measures approximately 40" by 56". Depicted is the village of old village of Aubres in Nyons, a town on the Aygues river in the heart of the Rhone valley south of Lyons. Signed by the artist on the front, and titled and signed on the rear of the canvas. This work was purchased directly from the artist and imported to the U.S. a few years ago. Our first two images are dark and shifted heavily toward red and do not reflect the color of the finish. It features a dark marble top with streaks of creamy white. Hand-carved fruit and foliage designs decorate the left and right front panels, and in the center is a drawer with golden pull depicting a bird in flight. Exposed portion of the plaques measure 8.9" by 11.2" (These plaques were framed sometime in the past five years or more prior to our client's recent purchase, and each carries a heavy paper backing that we have not disturbed. As such, we don't know the precise size of the plaques nor if there are any markings on the rear.

This Art Deco period chandelier in wrought iron and glass is done in the manner of Paul Kiss. It features its original geometric shaped frosted glass globes by the Paris firm Verrerie d' Art Degue which are marked "Degue". Lamp dates from the late 1920s to mid 1930s and was imported by our client roughly five years ago. It measures 38" high and 27" across. Degue was founded in 1926 by David Gueron who founded the Cristalleries de Compiegne glassworks factory in the early 1920s.
