A Uruguayan Football Association centenary (1900-2000) presentation to the nation's 1950 World Cup hero Alcides Ghiggia, in the form of a gilt-metal model of the Torre de los Homenajes at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo set on a marble plinth with a 100th anniversary plaque, height 19cm., 7 1/2in. Alcides Ghiggia scored one of the most famous goals in World Cup history. At the 1950 World Cup his 79th minute strike in the Maracana sealed a 2-1 win over the hosts Brazil and Uruguay were crowned World Champions for the 2nd time following their success at the inaugural tournament in 1930. Ghiggia received this presentation at a gala evening to celebrate the centenary of the Uruguayan Football Association in 2000. VIP guests at the event hosted by the AUF President Eugenio Figueredo included Sepp Blatter, Franz Beckenbauer and Sir Bobby Charlton.

Lots *** to *** Three original reels of film of the 1966 World Cup shot and edited by the German FIFA referee Rudolf Kreitlein (1919-2012). He is particularly remembered as the ref who sent-off the Argentinian player Antonio Rattin in the quarter-final v England. Kreitlein was an accomplished amateur film maker in his leisure time. He used the fact that due to being a referee he was allowed inside the stadiums, move freely and shoot films of the German teams matches during the 1966 World Cup. A film of the World Cup semi-final match West Germany v USSR 25th July 1966 shot and edited by the German FIFA referee Referee Rudolf Kreitlein, original black-and-white footage of the game at Goodison Park, approx. running time 25 minutes, shot on a semi-professional camera, the film is free of copyright and has never been released, the film in excellent condition
