Having a 7 3/4-inch clip-point blade with single fuller and ricasso marked: Western/Pat'd. Standard sheet steel crossguard. Creative theater-made grip, made by imbedding wasps in clear polyester resin and sanding to shape with a red layer separating the two sides.
Condition: Very good. Blade sharpened and showing grey patina, scattered light pitting and minor surface rust. Grip with light wear and minor hairline cracks.

31 1/2-inch tapered blade of diamond section with doll's head takedown joint allowing sword to be dismantled for carrying in luggage. Ricasso marked: Horstmann & Sons, Philadelphia. Brass hilt with straight crossguard with ball finials. Braided brass wire-wrapped grip with banded ferrules. Teardrop brass pommel with hex nut finial. No scabbard. This type of sword was used by 19th-century classical actors such as Edwin Forrest and John Wilkes Booth.
Condition: Very good. Metal showing wear and age patina. Tip of blade with pitting. Joint a little loose. Hilt with light age patina and minor marks.

Unmarked 23 1/4-inch curved blade with 5 1/2-inch back edge and single wide fuller. Single "D" guard knucklebow of steel. Leather-wrapped spiral grip. Similar in design to the U.S. Model 1840 light artillery sword but with a shorter blade. No scabbard.
Condition: Good. Metal with mottled grey patina and scattered light to moderate pitting. Blade probably shortened for maritime service. Grip with heavy wear. Leather wrap a period repair.

British 1892 Pattern Military Officer's Sword For The 11th Hussars C. 1914

Lot # 1142 (Sale Order: 143 of 651)      

35-inch straight blade etched with floral scrolls, latticework, Royal cypher and ABL monogram. Ricasso marked: Wilkinson/Pall Mall/London. Reverse of blade with Regimental crest and markings of 11th Hussars. Single wide fuller. Back edge of blade with number: 38769. Pierced steel guard engraved with scroll motif. Wire-wrapped fishskin grip with cross-hatched backstrap and knurled pommel cap. Standard steel scabbard with double ring mounts. Sold with provenance research material.
Condition: Very good. Metal with light age patina and wear overall.
Notes: Based on the ABL monogram, this sword was probably that of Lieutenant Arthur Bertram Lawson, D.S.O. & Bar- Killed June 24th, 1918. 2/5 Battalion. Lawson was commissioned into the 11th Hussars. Took over command of the 2/5 Glosters in March, 1918. According to reports, "Lt. Lawson was walking in front of his line on the south side of th Noc stream, he had gone out alone to satisfy himself personally as to certain enemy dispositions. He was seen a few yards from a German post and then disappeared behind a hedge. The sound of rifle shots and bombs was heard and he was not seen again. His body was found some days later and buried close to the Noc (Robecq)...To the 2/5 Glosters it was like a personal bereavement. " Brigadier -General Pagan said of Lawson: "This officer was only approached by one other as a battalion commander among the many I met in France. He was absolutely fearless, very able, and was devoted to the welfare of his men. He was always unruffled and was a very fine leader of men." He is buried at St. Venant-Robecq Cemetery, Robecq.

Left side engraved with Imperial crest and legend: Eisenhauer Damaststahl. Left ricasso stamped: Ewald Cleff/Solingen. Deep-relief engraved heavily gold-plated stirrup hilt, the languets appliqued with German silver crossed guidons. Deep-relief engraved backstrap with arms panoplies. Wire-wrapped fishskin grip with lion's head pommel. Faux ruby eyes. Nickel-plated steel scabbard with two ring mounts.
Condition: Very good to excellent. Blade sharpened and showing grey patina, the hilt with light age wear and patina. Minor scuffs to drag of scabbard.

Highly ornate hilt pierced with image of a tiger and gold-inlaid with floral and scale motifs. Red velvet backing.Gold-inlaid tiger's head pommel with open mouth revealing teeth. Contained in matching gold-inlaid scabbard decorated en suite with pierced panels of animals, the end terminating in a tiger's head matching the pommel. Overall length: 11 3/4-inches. A rare and unique Persian jambiya.
