6 1/4-inch overall length, with three apertures in head for cocking action. Pierced 8-pointed star motif in flat handle. Decorative devices of beveled and curved shaft, and finely formed terminal which could serve as small chisel or wedge. Ring mount inserted into faceted 8-sided bulbous section file-formed between curved shaft and flat handle.
Condition: Very good. Gray patina with pitting and marks. Apertures show light marks from use.

5 1/4-inch overall length, with two apertures in octagonal T-head for cocking action, one at each end. Finely formed eight-sided shaft to handle, with ring mount eyelet. The gracefully formed shaft constricting at bottom, and then terminating in butt with neatly faceted small turn screw.
Condition: Very good. Gray patina with pitting and marks. Apertures and turn screw show marks from use.

Relief Embellished And Gilt Bronze 16th Century German Wheellock Priming Flask

Lot # 1053 (Sale Order: 54 of 651)      

4 1/2-inches overall including engraved spout. The flask body 3-inches in diameter and 2-inches thick. Steel release lever, lever spring and eyelets for carrying strap. Small trapdoor one side of spout for loading powder. Each side of flask of domed contour, with relief cast and chased decoration of center panel scene of landscape, castle, horses and men, overseen by benevolent face on sun. All enclosed within relief border motifs. Flat band of decorated gilt bronze encircles body on which is mounted charging spout and eyelets.
Condition: Very good. 50% gilt finish, with wear, marks, dents and patina. Pitting and dark patina on steel parts.

3 7/8-inch tall, finely executed relief carved figure of gentleman in formal coat. Turned hardwood spout with threads, which screws into figure at top of head. Visible portion of spout measures 1 1/2-inches long. Old paper label on back of figure with typed information "Wheel-lock powder holding/flask. Used by Sir Vincent/Oorbo....Kt [Knight]. for [traveling] a Pilgri[mage]...ar. c. 174[?]." Carved and brown colored base integral with figure measuring 1 7/16-inches front to rear.
Condition: Fine. Mellow patina, surface cracks. Paper label faded tan from handling and with some typed description missing. Small chip at front of base.

Pair Of Unmarked Snaphaunce Pistols In The Style Of The 17th-century With Ornate Faceted Steel Mount

.54 caliber, 11 3/4-inch unmarked tapered two-stage part round, part octagonal barrels with molded girdles. Plain, unadorned snaphaunce locks of polished steel signed on the inside C.O. Rosewood. Black ebony relief-carved stocks with finely rendered mythical beast at base of ramrod channel. Ornate floral leaf motif polished steel mountings and pommel caps. A handsome and unusual pair of snaphaunce pistols.
Condition: Both are fine to excellent, showing light age wear and patina. Steel elements polished bright. Stocks with light wear and minor bruises. One fine hairline crack present in buttstock of one example. Barrels shortened. One example needing mechanical repair as it will not stay on cock,
Provenance: W.G. Renwick Collection, Sotheby's London, 1973 Lot 23. These piatols are listed in the 1971 inventory of Renwick's collection as "Swiss" and numbered as 917.

.52 caliber, 16 1/2-inch round barrels with faceted breeches. Unadorned wheelock mechanisms. Fruitwood stocks profusely inlaid with engraved bone and ivory panels featuring geometric patterns, pellets, birds, mythical creatures and line borders throughout. Apple-shaped pommels decorated en suite with ball finials. Tapered wooden ramrods with bone caps. Length overall: 25 5/8-inches.
Condition: Very good. Metal lightly cleaned, showing smooth grey patina with one example showing areas of surface rust on barrel near muzzle. Stocks with light wear overall with one example showing minor losses to inlays. One ramrod broken.

Rare 17th-Century Continental Combination Wheellock Curiosa Hunting Trousse

The three-piece hunting trousse ensemble consisting of a knife, a two-tine fork and an expanding fork. All handles decorated en suite with tortoiseshell scales, each one beautifully inlaid with engraved scrolling dragons of silver. Two utensils with what appears to be primitive internal self-spanning wheellock mechanisms, the third with a ball dispenser. All three contained in original black leather scabbard.
Condition: Very good. Metal with scattered wear and light pitting present. Mottled grey patina. Scabbard showing heavy wear and losses to tip. Mechanisms need repair.

Fine And Exotic Ivory-handled Dagger, C.19th Century, Probably Dieppe

9-inch spearpoint blade bisected by three lateral raised bands. Browned steel crossguard and ferrule with gold-inlaid linework and brass spots overall. Orb-shaped finials. Exquisitely carved metaphorical figural one-piece ivory grip featuring what appears to be an elderly gentleman carrying a satyr. The "satyr" represents the Devil wrapped him, whispering in his ear. Dagger contained in associated silver scabbard chased with scrolling griffins, the center with vacant oval brass escutcheon. Brass throat and tip.
Condition: Fine as configured. Blade with light wear and minor pitting. Grip with pleasant age patina. Scabbard with light wear.

Relief-carved Ivory Maastricht Dagger

8 3/8-inch spearpoint blade, secured to 1 3/4-inch forged steel collar and to 3 1/2-inch relief carved ivory grip. Carved motifs in line with top of blade with portrait heads, the upper wearing exotic turban. Seated and roaring lion motif in line with blade's cutting edge, the lion's front paws gripping shield. Lower 1/3 of grip above steel collar with relief carved twist motif. Overall length, 13 5/8-inches.
Condition: Very good. Mellow and dark patina to ivory, with light cracks and wear. Chipping from upper mouth and face of lion. Steel of gray patina and with surface pitting and wear, and nicks, slight bend and small break at tip of blade. Collar with old brass repair.

German Knife Marked "+" And "trikit," With Elaborately Carved Bone Handle, With Robed Women In Varie

5 1/2-inch steel blade marked on left side "+" and "Trikit." Unfinished slightly curved single edge blade with ribbed and fluted integral bolster, the carved bone handle measuring 4 1/8-inches. Standing relief carved figures of four women in robes, each clutching different object. Among objects, a cross, book, mandolin, fan and anchor. Carved above their heads, repeated four additional heads, all eight with regal and prosperous appearance, including finely figured hair. Lion-like crest motif serves as a symbolic pommel. Overall length, 10 3/8-inches.
Condition: Very good to fine. Gray patina to blade with pitting and patina, some cleaning. Handle with mellow patina, crack at bottom and minor crack in one of upper group of heads. Collar mount at grooved base of handle missing.

Contained in brown leather covered pasteboard scabbard with silver-plated mounts. Belt stud. Overall length: 10 1/4-inches.

Pommel cap missing. 3) Two early 20th-century German cutlery-style dirks, both with 4-inch blades, the ricassos with etched panels of a stag in a woodland vignette. Ribbed bolsters. Hollow ivoroid handles with floral motifs. One example with matching celluloid scabbard with brass mountings.
Condition: All showing wear and age patina. Celluloid handles on #3 with cracks, chips and wear.
