**Boxed Colt Experimental Prototype Army Special Revolver, with Coil Mainspring, Factory Letter

Serial no. GX2307. .38 Special caliber, 6-inch barrel, with standard markings, excepting without rampant colt logo on sideplate. Bright blue finish. Missing some parts. "D26" embossed plastic marker on top of backstrap behind hammer. Maroon Heritage of Colt Craftsmanship box, with Custom Shop end label, indicating model E and serial number.
Condition: Very good. 90% blue, with wear, tracking lines on cylinder. Missing various parts, including sideplate and crane screws and cylinder thumb release.
Notes: Experimental prototype with coil mainspring, kept by factory. Believed made without grips to reveal coil mainspring feature.

SA04511. .45 Colt caliber, non-fluted cylinder. 71/2-inch barrel, with inscriptions "The Battle of San Jacinto/April 21, 1836" on left side and "Remember the Alamo - Remember Goliad" on the right. Frame, cylinder and backstrap with etched decorations, reflecting San Jacinto and Texas history. Nickel-plated finish. Oil-finished smooth one-piece walnut grips. Wood grain box with brochures. Hand written factory label at one end flap.
Condition: Excellent. Nickel needs cleaning with light cloth. Box with wear, some taping.

Checkered hard rubber rampant colt and American eagle grips. Wood grain box, accompanied by shipping document, brochures and yellow warning product tag. Custom Shop end label including reference to serial number and factory order #11426.
Condition: Fine to excellent. Box with wear.
Notes: Shipping document includes notation "Placed into Archives 7/5/84." Kept by factory as sample and display Single Action of special edition.

Narrative: Skeeter Skelton, retired U.S. Border Patrol and U.S. Customs Agent, as well as Deputy Sheriff in Deaf Smith County, Texas, was a colorful character, and one of the best known and beloved firearms writers of his era. Skelton authored numerous articles and books, often filled with humerous story-telling, based on his many authentic adventures.

Serial no. X24067. .45 caliber, 7 1/2-inch barrel, new bevel to topstrap, identified as "Roundtop-Flattop" with shortened hammer due to new rear sight. Blue and case-hardened finish, the oil-finished walnut grips with gold-plated rampant colt medallion inlays. With metal and cardboard tag, marked in ink on one side "Model Round Top/Flat Top/Deluca" and on other side "Note: Hammer Shorter by .050[inches] Req'd all NF. Due to New Sight." Maroon Heritage of Colt Craftsmanship box, the Custom Shop end label with serial number marking.
Condition: Very good to fine. 98% finish. Some wear, handling and test marks. Tracking lines on cylinder. Box fine.

**Excellent Colt John Wayne Approved Prototype Commemorative Single Action Army Revolver, with Facto

Lot # 210 (Sale Order: 188 of 508)      

Serial no. X25225. .45 Colt caliber, 4 3/4-inch barrel, Gold-etched decoration on barrel, ejector rod housing, cylinder (including John Wayne portrait motif), frame and backstrap, latter with the star's D logo and signature. Full blue finish. Checkered hard rubber rampant colt and American eagle grips. Decorative motifs include etched scroll designs on frame and barrel.
Condition: Excellent.
Notes: The Colt John Wayne Commemorative issue was in 1982. No. X25225 was an approved prototype needed for pre-production and had been accepted by Wayne Enterprises, which was managed by Michael Wayne. When production began, ivory grips were standard issue on this model. Revolver had been retained as one of at least two approved prototype samples, by the factory Archives collection. The other bore no. X25226.

Matching scroll decoration on cylinder and on frame, latter including Diamondback snake motif. Blued finish, the standard checkered walnut grips with gold-plated rampant colt medallion inlays. Yellow safety tag on triggerguard. Wood grain box with brochures, and Colt Custom Shop end label, indicating special edition "1 of 500" and "Prototype." Label also indicates factory order no. 10870. Box also retains original shipping data, attached in unopened plastic envelope.
Condition: Excellent. Box fine, some tape and wear to end label.
Notes: Revolver had been retained by the factory as the issue sample and the Custom Shop's prototype. This modern firearm cannot be purchased by a California resident who does not possess a Federal Firearms License.
