Condition: Very good. Spots of oxydation, including at front sight, on cylinder and frame. Needs cleaning. Tracking lines on cylinder. Box frayed, worn, some retaping, tears.

Serial no. GX2947. .22 long rifle caliber, 6-inch barrel, blued finish, standard markings. Experimental round button safety on rear section of frame, actuated from left and right sides. Colt's Mfg. Co. barrel markings and address. Black checkered plastic grips with rampant colt logo molded on right panel. Tag attached to triggerguard indicates in ink, on one side, "Forerunner of Huntsman. 6 Models sent to dealers as samples. Never Produced." On the other side, "TES 8/8/56 GX2947 No M.S. Housing Pinned Barrel This gun has improved Safety GX3137."
Condition: Very good. Handling marks. Minor oxydation on slide. Missing magazine. Mechanism needs adjustment.

Serial no. GX3772. .22 long rifle caliber, 7-inch barrel, with maker and address marking, without model or caliber designation. Rampant colt logo on left side of frame. Blued, with anodized aluminum alloy frame and grip frame. Varnished smooth walnut grips. Two tags attached to triggerguard identifies serial no. GX3772, and: "Mod. Q. Experimental 7" barrel . . is within 5/16 inch of being 7/8 scale of OAL 7 1/2 bbl. P. gun . . . is within 1/8 inch of being exactly halfway between 4 3/4 & 9 1/2 Q bbls (over) [other side] all new assembled std. lockwork std. mainspring (used) std cylinder (salvaged) scrap frame & backstrap new wooden stocks ranged, fired, & targeted!" With added note in red ink: "bbl. cut down from 9 1/2 [inch] Buntline Q." Other tag also marked on one side, "Fred [likely Fred Roff, then President]. We made this one to study Proportions. It looks good. 7" barrel, Gun overall Length is nearly 7/8 of a S.A. Army having a 7 1/2 Barrel It is half way between the standard 4 3/4 barrel & the 9 1/2 Buntline. over." On other side of tag, "'GX3772' and "'GX7369 & #38995F The barrel is a 'Q' Buntline cut off. No tooling should be required. Thought you would be interested to see it. Sturdy [T.E. Sturdevant] 2/27/59. Would like to have it back again. Think you have my model Buntline 'Q.'"
Condition: Fine. Handling and test marks, filing on frame bottom at serial number marking. Without cylinder pin or cylinder pin latch.

**Colt Python Double Action Cutaway Demonstrator Model, in Bright Stainless Steel, with Factory Lett

Serial no. T41445. .357 Magnum caliber, 6-shot fluted cylinder, 4-inch barrel, bright stainless steel. Standard markings, though rampant colt logo on sideplate partly machined away. Several machined cutaway details on left and right side of frame.
Condition: Very good. Wear, remains of masking tape used in handling of revolver and assembly. Needs careful cleaning. Missing grips. Cutaway machining appears to have proven difficult, due to the toughness or stainless steel.
Notes: Sample and display revolver cutaway which had been retained by factory. Likely the revolver's manufacture was never completed.

Adjustable rear sight on flattop frame by hammer. Barrel, cylinder and frame without Colt markings or logo, other than X prefix number. Checkered hard rubber rampant colt and American eagle grips.
Condition: Fine. Handling marks and light wear, with light patina crust and surface pitting on frame. Slightly fading but still colorful case-hardening to frame and loading gate. Light tracking lines on cylinder.
Notes: Kept by factory as experimental prototype of .32 S & W caliber, and as sample revolver.

Model and caliber designation on left side of barrel, maker and address in two lines on right side. Distinctive profile to steel front sight blade. Checkered walnut extended grips with nickel-finish rampant colt medallion inlays. Grips do not overlap gripstraps, but extend to cover buttstrap.
Condition: Fine. Light handling marks, more pronounced on grips.
Notes: Experimental prototype retained by the factory, including for specially built barrel, and aluminum alloy frame. This modern firearm cannot be purchased by a California resident who does not possess a Federal Firearms License.

Serial no. 701-S. .22 short caliber, 4 9/16-inch barrel with fixed sight blade and stamping "20" on right side at breech. Rampant colt logo and "Match Target" marking on left side of frame in line with barrel. Adjustable rear sight. Blued finish, with the barrel in-the-white and with patina from heat. Mottled checkered plastic grips with right panel having embossed rampant colt motif. The left panel with thumb rest. The backstrap with matching grip adapter. Magazine stamped on butt "Colt/Cal. .22 L.R." but chamber is for .22 short. Tag attached to triggerguard with identification in pencil "Match Target 22 Short./701 S/Lighter Slide,/Special Magazine/[ditto] Chamber./TES 11/16/51." TES likely to be factory engineer and designer, Thomas E. Sturdevant.
Condition: Very good. Handling and test marks, the barrel with machine tool marks and heat patina. Traces masking tape on top of slide. Grips fine.
Notes: Experimental prototype kept by factory as sample with low serial number, short barrel, and other features as identified on tag.

Condition: Fine. Light handling marks, scratch on sideplate, light patina on hammer. 99% blue. Mechanism needs adjustment.
Notes: Had been retained by factory as prototype and experimental revolver, with tag attached identifying "Special Frame - Heat Treated/Fairbanks Morse, Beloit, Wis.,/K. Dowler, Metalurgist -/10-67." Hammer shroud attached to frame, of anodized aluminum.
Condition: Fine. Handling marks.
Notes: Retained by factory as experimental prototype, including for .32 Colt New Police cartridge, and an association with the Cobra series revolver.

Serial no. 415. .357 Magnum caliber, 4-inch barrel with model and caliber markings on left side and "Colt's Mfg. Co., Hartford Conn. U.S.A." on right.Rampant colt logo on sideplate. Ramp-mounted front sight blade of target style with red plastic insert. Checkered wide spur target hammer, and adjustable target rear sights. Relief panel checkered walnut target grips, with nickel-finished rampant colt medallion inlays. Blued finish with bright hammer.
Condition: Fine. 95% blue, handling marks, with light tracking lines on cylinder. Grips with light nicks, bruises. Bright bore, needs cleaning.
Notes: Kept by factory as example of early production .357 Model revolver.
