Fine. 25" barrels show 90-95% bluing with areas of staining. 27-1/2" barrels show 94-96% bluing with a very small area of spotting. Both sets of barrels show some surface unevenness. Triggerguard shows 5-10% bluing. Stock shows two 3/8" cracks behind locks. Stock finish shows losses, wear, nicks and scratches. Bores are bright.

Serial no. 31225, 12 ga., 27-1/2” rust-blued side-by-side barrels with solid rib, choked Full & Modified, maker’s inscription on rib at breech, engraved in script within scroll terminals “Armi Famars.” Proofs and standard markings on bottom of barrel breech. Barrels choked [to come] and [to come]. Engraved “Famars” in script within oval cartouche on bottom of frame. Italian proofmarks and Famars stamped marking, with serial number, on watertable. Finely and profusely executed English style rose and scroll engraving on the locks, hammers, breech and triggerguard, as well as matching on fore-end mounts. Fine border motif on barrel breech. Signature of engraver on triggerplate to left of front trigger, “OREL Inc.” Rust-blued finish to barrels and rib, with bright polished grey-finished locks, hammers, breech, thumb-lever release and triggerguard. Oil-finished select walnut stock, with checkered splinter fore-end; push-button fore-end release. Buttstock with straight checkered wrist and checkered butt. Length of pull, 14-1/2”, cast for right-handed shooter. Leather sporting case with red felt lining, Famars logo imprinted on lid lining. Acessories of Famars cleaning cloth, oil bottle and two snap caps. XXX marking on bottom of barrel lug indicates date of manufacture as 1974.

Excellent. Minor storage marks. Sporting case with fine interior, light wear to exterior.

Condition:
Excellent. Showing some light use and storage marks. Barrels show 98-99% bluing. Barrels No. II show a very light 1" scratch on the underside and small patches of light corrosion/staining on the breech and ejector faces. Bright bores. Action shows 98% dark case colors with slight carry wear at bottom edges. Triggerguard shows 99% bright bluing. Stock shows some finish wear on the edges. Underside of stock shows roughness and losses to finish between the end of the checkering and the recoil pad; balance shows a few light scratches and nicks. Case in excellent condition with a few marks.

Very good, as partially redone. Barrels show 50-60% re-browned finish with extensive staining and spotting. Right barrel shows a damaged section at 9” from the breech. Damage includes deep pitting and an uneven area. (Gun is deemed unsafe to fire in present condition.) Left barrel shows uniform light pitting. Action/locks show a brown patina. Replaced left hammer. Action/locks show slight looseness. Recoated stock shows some nicks and scratches and a loss at head at action. Recoated fore-end shows a 2" loss at left edge.

Very good, with slight looseness of barrels on frame. Strong mainsprings, crisp triggers, top lever spring weakening, screw head slots with marring from disassembly, lockplates drifting to brown, small cracks developing at rear lock inlets and fore-end release.
